OK, so I'm looking at muzzle devices for my 16" AR build, and I'm wondering if it would be more advantageous to go with a compensator, (Spike's Dynacomp specifically) and deal with less muzzle blast and flash, but more muzzle rise and recoil impulse, or to go with a full on muzzle brake, (SJC Titan) and deal with more muzzle blast and flash, but reap the benefits of less recoil and muzzle flip.
My uses for the gun will be prairie dog/coyote/general varmint hunting, taking some tactical carbine classes, and, if the events ever get organized, some 3 gun. My main concerns for the Titan will be when I'm at the range, whether to sight in or taking a class. Will it be too loud?
My concern with the Dynacomp is that "A jack of all trades is the master of none," and I could be getting a device that will be all compromise. ( I don't know if this is the case, I'm just posing the question.)
Thanks in advance for the input. |
| I don't have enough experience to tell you how each of those models will do, but I will tell you that the blast on all of them will suck to stand next to. My buddy's battle comp would disturb the dirt at his feet. 223 just isn't a friendly round to stand next to, even with an A2. |

Thanks for the reply, I'm just trying to decide if the relative blast reduction is worth the increase in muzzle rise and recoil. |

Then the little .223 won't seem so bad........... |

I run BC's on both of my AR's, and think they do exactly what they're advertised to do, and then some.
For me, there's only two options to choose when considering a muzzle device. Get the best combination of features without the overly obnoxious noise - a BattleComp. Or get the most effective brake available, but it will be damn noisy - a SureFire brake. |

Thanks for all the input folks. Im sort of leaning towards the ST Dynacomp right now, but I'm not certain yet.
I wish I was able to see/hear/test both of these, but I'm deep in Fudd country, and nobody around here has that kind of hardware.
