This is my first ever build & my first AR 15. Have wanted one for a long time but after I found this site I decided to build my own. Wanted to keep the build under 1K but went a little over. Thanks for such a great site with tons of info & people willing to help!!!!! Few quick pics with my phone.

Thanks fellas! I'm taking it out to the range this weekend. I will post up my range report. Is it bad if I'm already wanting to build an other one & I haven't even fired this one yet? Is this normal....... If you could report back on the ACT trigger I'd be very interested to hear your opinion. I've got one laying in my parts pile but won't have everything to complete my lower until next month. |

Quoted: Correct. The Optic ran me $180.00. I'm sure I could have gotten some thing used & kept the price down but I wanted everything brand new. Nice rifle OP, you must be pretty stoked. Very nicely done. Good job on putting together a stripped lower. How do you like that optic? What kind of battery life does it get? Is that dot a 2MOA or 4? |

Quoted: Spikes Stripped Lowerhow was that over 1k? -$115 Spikes Lower Parts Kit -$72 ALG Combat ACT Trigger -$65 Spikes Complete Upper $575 with MOE Handguard Magpul CTR Stock -$97 Magpul MOE Plus Grip -$15 Magpul Pmag -$11 Magpul Mbus -$57 Vortex Sparc Red Dot -$180 That's about $1180. I am sure the OP shopped around and found cheaper prices than I listed, but that is still easy over 1K. I think he did well. He learned how to build a lower, and got the parts that he wanted. |

Could have gotten a complete daniel defense for that ![]() Could have got a lot of different things for $1,000. A used CRF150 to tool around on, a Kenmore Elite Fridge, a Dell XPS 13, a 60" LED TV... A DD, BCM, S&W, PA... Point was't and question wasn't "What else could I have done with $1,000?", it was for the OP to show his finished build. Takes some wontons to build your first AR and then post up here for the forum to see. Great job OP. |
| Thanks again fellas!!! I plan on taking it to the range tomorrow. I will report back & let you guys know how it does. I don't have a lot of experience with Red Dot's. I fired my friends Sig 556 that had a Eotech on it. Don't really think the Vortex Sparc I have even comes close to the Eotech but for $180 I like it. |
