Howdy all. I'd like to replace my factory flash suppressor with a Noveske KX3. Will I need some sort of specialized block/clamp to do this? Don't want to over torque anything.
TIA, Ray R I apologize if this is in the wrong forum area. |

Barrel blocks are the best way to hold the barrel for muzzle device work.
They are aluminum soft jaws that are fitted to your vice. Use scrap inner tube, hose or leather to protect the barrel and add traction. Usually under $20. Some here have fabbed them from a couple blocks of wood. |

Barrel clamps are the correct way.
Before you go and do that, what length barrel are you running? You realize that the KX3 is designed to increase backpressure for VSBRs (very short barreled rifles) and pistols. On a 16" gun you're going to overgas it especially if it's already a carbine. Not to mention add a bunch of unnecessary weight to the muzzle (think leverage) and it will throw the balance of the gun way off. It's also pretty expensive. There are better options that weigh and cost less, such as the levang linear comp |

What am I looking at cost wise for the proper clamp? |

Is your LMT running poorly? |

Just get a shim set instead of the crush washer. You won't hurt anything taking the old one off and you don't have to kill it going back on because you don't have to crush the washer until it's aligned properly.
Plus when you decide to take it off you can reuse the shims. |
