I am building a new varmit rifle around a Mega Upper/Lower combo and trying to decide what trigger to use.
Options: 1. Use my RRA 2 stage (which I like) in the varmit build and buy something different for my RRA (SHTF rifle). 2. Or do I keep the RRA 2 stage in the in SHTF rifle and buy something new for the varmit build? Please help some suggestions. You guys have way more knowledge than I do and I value your opinions. |

I took my RRA 2 stage out of my carbine and installed it in my varmint rig and got a Geissele SSA for my carbine. My RRA was tuned by WOA back in the day and is exquisite as a match trigger, but too light for a combat gun. The SSA is a little heavier and perfect for the carbine.
ARFCOM says that the Geissele is more reliable although I never had an issue with the RRA. So this was a win/win for me. |

This Put the RRA in your varmint gun and treat your SHTF gun to a giesselle SSA I've never used a RRA 2-stage, but a giesselle SSA trigger is |

After trying a Geiselle SSA, for my purposes I cant imgaine ever needing anything else. +1 Quoted:
After putting a Geissele SSA in one lower a few years back I will never go with another trigger group, just have to save the $ to put one in each of the other lowers. +1 I have them in all my rifles. (All two of them) |

Eyeing up a Hi-Speed (DMR flavor) for my precision lower I'm putting together. |

I have tried the Armalite National Match trigger in my AR-10T, the Lewis Machine & Tool National Match trigger assembly, and the Jewell single-stage trigger assemblies as found on my Patriot Ordnance Factory P-308 rifles.
I don't work for, nor am I affiliated with Geiselle, I am just a huge fan of their products. After trying a Geiselle DMR trigger in my AR-10T, I eventually replaced everything with Geiselle DMR, High-Speed, or SSA-E triggers. Insofar as I am concerned, the decision is simple...Geiselle or nothing. In my personal experience, the only trigger I know to be substantially better are the ones found on my Sako TRG-22 and TRG-42. In a varmint-style AR, I would go with the DMR trigger assembly with the high-speed hammer and match-weight spring set installed and tweaked/adjusted to be as light as possible on the second-stage pull. My "varmint" AR is a Lewis Machine & Tool R7A1A rifle-length direct impingement MRP chassis with the heavy-profile 18-inch stainless 5R 1-7 twist factory barrel. This rifle wears a DMR trigger in an LMT Defender 2000 lower, a Schmidt & Bender Police/Marksman 2 with P4-fine reticule, 4-16X, 50mm riflescope in a 20MOA offset one-piece Alphamount from NEAR Manufacturing. It is phenomenally accurate. Just buy the Geiselle DMR and be comfortable in the fact that you have the best trigger going...sure, they're expensive, but anything else is just a disadvantage. |

Eyeing up a Hi-Speed (DMR flavor) for my precision lower I'm putting together. Do this. I was sold after the first pull, completely amazing trigger. Also for the OP, look into ALG defense. Its basically Bill Geissele's wife's company and an outlet to sell reasonably priced, reasonably featured, Geissele triggers. New product thread AR15.com |
