I had a really bad SBR engraving done on my lower so I am having Orion Arms redo it. I had to lightly shave the original one off as it was too shallow and also a crappy job. Orion Arms currently uses Birchwood Casey Aluminum Black for darken their lettering however he said I should not rely on this for larger buffered areas. My question to you guys is what would you recommend? Is there a coating I can apply to a small area? Say...1 inch by 1 inch?

If appearance is a concern to you (and it seems so), then a full strip and refinish is your best bet. Investment Grade Firearms is a company that performs services like this. |

Have you already sent in your Form 1? If you haven't (I did my engraving before sending my forms in just in case something happened), then you could just keep the messed up lower for a defferent build and buy a second to SBR.
How about just duracoating the lower and upper? |
