im almost finished with my upper build, the only thing im missing is my bipod. my question is should i use the picatanny gas block on the bully upper or should i use the free float handguard to mount the bipod? if i go with the handguard i will have to install either a small picatanny rail or a sling stud on it bc its a smooth round one. im leaning towards the handguard, just wondering what more experienced poeple would do.

Properly installed, a bipod will be attached to a free-float hand guard.
Pressure from the bipod allowed to flow directly to the barrel can affect POI.

If maximum accuracy is not important, mount the bipod in the easiest, most secure way.

I like to use a Larue QD mount on the rail.

If you've gone to the trouble of free-floating your barrel, don't hang anything off of it except a suppressor. Seriously, put your bipod on the handguard.

you might want to get the stud in your hands before drilling/tapping, to be sure of thread size/pitch. The one I ordered from PK Firearms has a small knurled nut for the back side as opposed to tapping threads. I just felt better about the strength of this set-up since the tube is aluminum. I guess if the tube is thick enough, you'd be fine either way tho.
