Can't seem to find much in a search - anybody have any experience with the Core 15 basic M4 clone?
Looking to add another carbine to the stable and on paper this looks to be a decent bargain. MPI tested bolt, chrome-lined, etc. Any feedback is appreciated. |

Core15 is local to me only about 40 minutes away in Ocala Fl. Been in their shop a few times and my buddies mother bought a 38 from them. They seem to have a nice selection of AR's and a nice shop.If I ever decide to build my own AR that's where I would buy my lower.
The only thing I bought from them is some ammo and their extended latch charging handle for my Colt 6920 that I like. They have a spot in the industry section and are a site sponsor.http://www.ar15.com/forums/f_2/385_Core15_Rifle_Systems.html |

Wednesday the 8th I was stuck between getting a Rock River and the S&W M&P15. The guy behind the shelf tossed up the idea of the Core 15. I checked the reviews and decided to go for it, figured what the hell. Its a fairly new company, but thats what I like about it. Its a chance I was willing to take. In the less than week I have had it, I have spent most of evenings at the range, and have put more than 300 rounds through it. Surprisingly, not a single hiccup. I went for the Troy RIS and a MAGPUL flip rear sight. She's gorgeous. I really enjoy the 1/7" twist as opposed to the standard 1/9" you find on most AR's. It may be short timed to say, but I will recommend it. I am working on getting pictures up once I get my new grip, dust cover, and pins in the mail this week. Any questions about anything, feel free to ask!! |

If the default answer for every question was to just purchase a Colt, there would be very little need for ar15.com. Variety is everything to many people. I'm not by any means a Colt hater as I own several, but what they offer isn't everyone's cup of tea. Quoted: Looks good but it's an unknown and a Colt (NOT an unknown) can be had for the same dollars. |

Yeah but it's a good default (and I don't own one). Quoted: If the default answer for every question was to just purchase a Colt, there would be very little need for ar15.com. Quoted: Looks good but it's an unknown and a Colt (NOT an unknown) can be had for the same dollars. Quoted: A basic Core M4 is $750. And it's STILL an unknown for all intents and purposes. That doesn't mean it is junk. It simply means it hasn't got the proven track record of others. Buy what you want as it won't affect me. The point is that most of us here can't afford to buy everything that comes out so we MUST depend on the experiences of others to help us spend our money wisely. I haven't seen that enough for this rifle to make me take the chance but, then again, I am not in the market for a new AR (Colt or otherwise). YMMV My suggestion was, simply, that a PROVEN rifle is available for about the same money. From the Core 15 site: Our entry level M4 Direct Gas Impingement Gas Rifle. SKU: 100278 $899.99 I have no idea what the "street price" is. |

Certainly not a secret to me. I've purchased a total of five TAC V2 uppers from them and have zero complaints with the product, the shipping, or the company. The Black Hole Weaponry barrel on this upper a among the most accurate I've ever fired. I've ran several thousand rounds of 62 gr. XM855LC1 through one of those uppers without a single hiccup. They also handles Wolf steel cased without issue. Good to go as far as I'm concerned. Quoted: Care to share said "experience" or is it a secret? Quoted: Quoted: experienceAnd that is based on ? Quoted: Core 15 is GTG, and their customer service is top notch |

If there is truly a Colt 6920 for that cheap of a price someone please provide a link. DPMS, Armalite and Bushmaster rifles are actually more than the Core models and have less features. Admittedly I hadn't heard about the Core 15's so I just wanted to know if they were good. |

Just by pure luck I was at my local tactical store yesterday and the Core 15 factory sales team pulled up in their truck and trailer. Included was one of the designers of their guns. When I mentioned to him that I had a carbon 15 he asked me how I liked it––turned out he used to work at the Wyndham Bushmaster factory and had a hand in it's design. Small world!
First of all, I'm a relative new-comer to AR's so I'm far from and expert––so take my observations with the appropriate condiments. But, in a word, I was floored by the apparent quality and price point of their beautifully-made weapons. Top of the list for me in pluses: they have have an entry level gas piston carbine for under 1K. I have never seen this kind of weapon before at this price point. From what I could tell, the machining and tolerances were outstanding, and they have a special process finish for the chamber and bolt. Without furniture on it I couldn't tell the difference in weight between it and my carbon 15. The bolt itself is very robust and apparently has extra stabilization on the carrier over other designs to reduce wobble/oscillation on recoil; adding to reliability of feed/ejection. The designer told me that the gun will eat anything no problem––in fact he said he shot mostly Russian lacquer metal like Wolf and Tula (which gives my Carbon 15 digestive difficulties). I believe the barrel is 1/8 or 1/8.5 twist. On top of that they make a 7.62 blackout upper which is a nothing more than a quick pop of the pins to swap out. Probability is very high that this will be my next AR. PS––I went back to my LGS today and took a closer look at the system––they did not have a blackout upper but did have the literature. The 7.62 is actually a 300 made from a modified casing whose outer dimensions are similar to the 223––I thought the way it was first explained that it was something equivalent to an AK round. Not so. My apologies for misleading info. For the time being I personally would get a dedicated round rifle (7.62/308) rather than some hard-to-find exotic/experimental round (from the sounds of it). hybrid––or at least wait till it's further embraced by the industry. To take the 7.62 the blackout 300 upper only needs a barrel change. |
