Ok, so I couldn't totally afford the new lower I wanted this pay cycle. My motorcycle needed new brakes.
So I purchased some small parts from Midway USA
So far I have collected the following.

Model 1 oversize mag release
DPMS tactical bolt latch
DPMS Mag release
Mission first grip
Bushmaster pin kit
DPMS Oversize safety.

I already have a Harris bipod.

What Im going for is a accurate target AR with some of the tactical conveniences of a fighting style AR.
And I dont want to drop 1700 on it.
My build has a budget of 1066 dollars.
But Im still thinking about some of the parts, I might be able to bring this in for a shade less.

So Ok, here are my questions.
Will a MOE buttstock rattle or is it tight?
What is the OAL (extended) of a Magpul MOE versus a standard A2?
Does the heavy duty extractor serve any purpose in reality? (223 class rounds using a M16 carrier group)
Do you find the  OEM takedown pins satisfactory or do you prefer the easy pull kind?

So about the rest of the rifle project planning.
Trigger will be either a Jewell Adjustable or a JP enterprises, or a non adjustable Timney at under 4 lbs. If I go the JP route, Im going to make a "speed hammer" out of a OEM AR15 hammer. (cut off hook)
Stock will be most likely a A2 but I am considering a MOE. I hate adjustable stocks....but those were the old school stocks, and Ill give them credit for new, innovating thinking......
Barrel will be finished at not less than 20". Rifle Gas system. Free float Aluminum tube.
Bolt will be a M16
Upper will be a flattop, M4 variation
Lower will be a LMT (most likely pending gunshow investigation next week)
Trigger guard will be a Doublestar oversize
Sling will be a Blackhawk
Magazines will be M16 20 rounders (late model)
Charging handle will be a Gunfighter with a oversize latch
Standard Gas tube
Gas block will be a flattop gas block. I don't plan on adding any iron sights, so I don't need a rail. Ill probably go the aftermarket route,
Barrel will be a ER Shaw, Wilson or PacNor

So that is my my plan

Magpul Moe stock does have some play in it but I would not call it rattle. So what type of siteing system you going to mount on it. I might rethink the no Buis route.

It is going to be a scope of the best quality I can afford. It will be in the 3-9, or 3-12 range

Regular take-down pins work just fine.  When new, some need to be broken in, but with use, most will become quite usable.  Just use a bit of oil on them.

Take extra care when ordering your barrels and make sure they come with M4 feedramps!

If you´re gonna combine them with a Flattop upper with M4 feedramp cuts, they need M4 feedramps or your rounds can hang up on the rifle feed ramps!

Sounds like a nice build!

I wouldn't go with ANYTHING from DPMS, BM or Model 1 for lower parts but YMMV.

The choice of the LMT lower is good but again, I wouldn't put the parts you have in that lower.

I would go with a Geissele trigger but that's just me (I have two SSAs.)

The Gunfighter CH is an excellent choice.

Good luck with your build!  I look forward to pics and a range report.

ETA:

I see you are quite the post whore. You should pace yourself and slow down.

You may want to rethink your making of the "speed hammer" and go with a quality fire control group like Geissele or a RRA 2 stage.

I'd just go with an A2 stock with that 20" barrel - unless the length is what bothers you. A fully extended MOE is 13.95" LOP according to Magpul.

PSA has A2 kits for 75$ - PSA

Yeah the speed hammer and dpms/model 1 parts have me scratching my head

Personally I would take advantage of all the CTRs going on clearance.  They can be had for around $80 and then buy a RISR for it for a better cheek weld.

I'd say go with a Palmetto LPK minus the FCG for around $30.

For a trigger, look on the EE for a used RRA two-stage.  they seem to average around $70-80 shipped.

Spend the cash on the barrel, don't cheap out on that.

Model 1 oversize mag release
DPMS tactical bolt latch
DPMS Mag release
Mission first grip
Bushmaster pin kit
DPMS Oversize safety.

I wouldn't put any of this "stuff" on my weapon.
Just get a good LPK minus the grip and trigger from PSA (or similar)

I already have a Harris bipod.

Good product.

Will a MOE buttstock rattle or is it tight?

It might have a little play.

Does the heavy duty extractor serve any purpose in reality? (223 class rounds using a M16 carrier group)

Not neeeded.

Do you find the  OEM takedown pins satisfactory or do you prefer the easy pull kind?

OEM is good, they break in.
I do use the Schuster pin pusher tool. Made of Delrin.....no scratch.

If you like to tinker.
If you want to drop it in and forget about it, go Geiselle.

Stock will be most likely a A2 but I am considering a MOE. I hate adjustable stocks....but those were the old school stocks, and Ill give them credit for new, innovating thinking......

For what you're building and what you just said, just go with an A2 buttstock assembly.

Lower will be a LMT (most likely pending gunshow investigation next week)

Good stuff but not exactly routine to find a new, stripped, LMT lower.

Trigger guard will be a Doublestar oversize

Wut?
Just get a Magpul, polymer or aluminum.

Sling will be a Blackhawk

I'd go with BFG or similar.

Magazines will be M16 20 rounders (late model)

Magpul

Charging handle will be a Gunfighter with a oversize latch

Don't get the longest unless you have a big, honkin' scope. Most popular is the #4

Barrel will be a ER Shaw, Wilson or PacNor

The PacNor will very likely have to go through Noveske and just may blow you budget.
The Wilson can be had through RRA.
Be careful where you shop the Shaw....depends on who preps it.
Also look at White Oak Armament for a barrel.

Don't get caught up in the hype.
Stick with what has been working.

So you're gonna buy a LMT lower, replace the pins with Bushmaster, replace the stock with a A2 and then bolt all that DPMS/Model 1 garbage on it??

Why?

Buy the complete LMT lower, buy a quality upper and shoot it. I would skip all the "high speed" junk and just build a solid rifle.

I don't think I've ever seen a new, stripped LMT lower.
Yes, I agree it would be sacrilegious to strip a built LMT lower and stuff it full of that crap.

It is good that the OP posted. He prolly got his feathers ruffled a little.
We all had to get a handle on what the good stuff is.. Easy to get caught up in the hype and end up with crap.

does your build budget include optics? if not just save a little more and get a RRA varmint a4 16" and be done with it. Tack driver and it is still pretty small.

Thats atleast what I would do. I have been looking at one for a while.

No, optics are a different kettle of fish.

Just wondering why everybody doesnt like DPMS?

There have been problems with some of their small parts. As has been said, just go with the LMT lower and something like a Geissele SSA trigger
