Hey guys. I've got a mp 15t (the old style with Troy free float rail and flip up sights) that's in a out 95% shape. Anybody got a ballpark value to sell at? I got it in a trade and can't find a good reference. It's on the EE for $980. Is this reasonable?

Here it is at a local gun shop

Around $800 tops would be more reasonable.

Even with buds (my local shop) selling them for $1271? Ouch.

You're not going to get a retail price for a used M&PT. This is not a sellers market right now unless you have a gun set up exactly like a potential buyer happens to be lusting after for one reason or another. I'm not saying that you have an undesireable gun. I'm just saying that you won't fetch retail for a used S&W especially when there are more desireable brands selling for less brand new. Sometimes you can find a local buyer that doesn't know much about ARs that would be willing to pay close to retail. Good luck with the sale.

I think what he is asking is reasonable. I'd say $950 just to round it down but anyway I say this because he isn't asking retail for it. It retails for over $1200, MSRP is over $1700 and even with this being a buyer's market I wouldn't take less than $900; that is still a pretty bad ass rifle IMHO and getting for $900 would be a steal

I think I'm gonna lower my asking price to $925. If I had to sell for $800 id just save the extra cash to buy a scar and keep the rifle.

What you should do anyways.

Was yours new with magpul sights or Troy?

[#10]
the magpul ones so that might explain the price difference haha but still its an m&pt with a free float rail and buis. are the troy models that desirable?

Maybe. But that'd be about the right difference. With a Troy free float rail and Troy BUIS that'd add up from 850 pretty fast. Not that I dislike the magpul sifts but they're definitely not the same quality as the Troy.

yeah i agree the troys are better but when i was buying i knew i was gonna have an EOtech on my rifle so the sights weren't my number one concern. if someone really likes troy gear (which i know alot of people do) you could get a good price for it.
once again , good luck!

It's not just the sights on the new M&P 15Ts that were downgraded. Even the stock looks like Tapco junk now. I haven't checked but I would hope they lowered the MSRP on that thing by $300-400 at least after their little overhaul. That model went from a pretty decent deal to a rip off IMO.

Just my two cents.  I ordered my M&P 15T today from a local gun shop here in New Orleans.  It comes with the Magpul Mbus flip up sights.  I paid $1,100 for it.  I think their cost is around $900.

Got it up on the EE for $925. I think that's fair based on what I've heard. If its not. Oh well. I'll keep it!

Who makes the new rail on these rifles? The old one was a Troy but I do not think the new one is.

The barrel does interst me on this new one.

I was wondering about the price drop from when I got mine about 3 years ago. Mine is Troy.

Depends on where you got it from. Some dealers dropped the price to get them out the door due to S&W changing the model this year. CDNN still has them listed at $1190. Local dealer still had one listed at $1400 a few months ago. I bought mine about 5 years ago for $1300. Have not looked to see what the currant model price is going for. I like the rifle. Mine has a twin in 5.45x39.

They were the pinnacle of the line when the M&P AR line first came out. Sooooo many models now.

$900-$1000 is reasonable for the Troy version, the Magpul not so much.
