Thanks to the wealth of knowledge on this forum, I’ve acquired early stage BRD.  After a few questions and a lot of lurking, this is the first symptom I’ve shown.  It’s still a work in progress and will eventually acquire another lower, but for now, what started out as a stock Colt Match Target Competition HBAR that I put about 1,000 rounds through has become: Colt MT6700 ––> Colt Carbine & Rifle.

http://i1098.photobucket.com/albums/g380/999monkeys/IMG_0696.jpg

LOWER
-Colt MT6700 Lower / Trigger Group
-VLTOR A5 Buffer Tube / Spring / Buffer
-LMT SOPMOD
-MI QD Sling Mount
- V-TAC Quick Adjust Sling
-VLTOR Quick Detach Sling Swivels

CARBINE
-Colt 6920 upper
-Colt 14.5” SOCOM barrel
-Pinned AAC Blackout flash hider
-Rifle-length KAC URX II
-BCM/VLTOR Mod 4 charging handle
-Colt M16 BCG
-Troy BattleSight Rear Di-Optic Aperture (DOA) Folding
-Aimpoint PRO
-Aimpoint 3X Magnifier

RIFLE
-Colt MT6700 Upper / Barrel / BCG / charging handle
-KAC Ras M-5
-Leupold Vari-X iii 3.5-10x40mm (borrowed from another rifle in safe that doesn’t get much use)

TO DO
- LaRue LT104 Scope Mount
- Rear BUIS for rifle

Although changes are sure to come, for now I love this setup. I’m planning to put a few thousand rounds through it before making anything more than small changes. Thanks for all the help, both direct and indirect! Happy to hear comments and/or suggestions.

Looks good.

I give you 4 months before you have two complete rifles. No one with BRD can have an upper sitting around without a dedicated lower.

BRD is fun, just go with it. Don't try to resist. I had 3 lowers. the first turned into a MK12 Mod 1, then in a two week span, I had an A2 built on one lower and a Midlength M4 style on the other. Now I am looking at my parts bin, I have a charging handle, Bolt carrier, and an Upper reciever. That is almost enough to warrant a fourth AR

Eventually you'll just start throwing the new ones in a pile.

Seriously, welcome to your new addiction.  Kiss your expendable income goodbye. Embrace the dark side.

4 months is about right, my second build is having it's birth pains and should be delivered this weekend right on schedule!

This, just a few years after saying I'd never own another black rifle. Must be a guy thing; put metal bits together that make loud noises, I'm sure there's a hormone involved.

4 months time between first and second builds was dead on for me.  Now I'm broke and I need more ammo!

Gotta love it!

Hi my name is AZspirit I have BRD while I am recovering Down to six complete AR's from eight. it's been a long road with several bumps and cost me several liberal friends who I will miss screwing with, after 29 years I think it's a lost cause. Get help while you can I find gun shows calming and spending time with like minded people to soothe the soul. I am hopping that they will pass something like the medical marijuana bill for us so we can get government assistant.

BRD is great.  The only thing bad about it is coming up with creative ways of explaining to the wife why have more than one is better.

Dont feel bad about your BRD. I'm still pretty new to arfcom, in comparison, I havent been on here awhile but I just ordered my first upper from BCM and and an lmt lower and also have early symptoms of BRD. So from one early stage BRD casuality to another, keep at it brother

Yup, I've got a form of GD (gun disease) that has manifested mainly in BRD..... Started last February with a friends AR15 in the dessert.  Then a co-worked set up a group buy on lowers.  Built a CAR.  Added a AK47 and Glock 19 to the mix a couple weeks later.  Then came a 10/22 Target and a Berretta 685 12ga.

Then sickness really set in.... ordered another upper.  A middie this time.....  And picked up 3 more lowers (too good of a deal to pass on). Ordered a Nikon 1-4 223 scope and mount for the middie.  Hopefully I'll have a full rifle by February when the upper should arrive.

So, in the course of 12 months.... I went from having a .22 that my grandpa gave me when I was 13 to 7 guns. Not to mention that I've got a 1911 craving that I'll probably cure around christmas when I get my vacation check.... Damn, I'm glad I've got a forgiving wife.

Welcome man.... Prepare to have your friends think you're crazy.  If you've got cool friends they'll catch the same disease.

Welcome to the BRD club, we all have it in different levels, great choice of quality hardware you won't regret them, enjoy.

I'm also a guy suffering with BRD for about forty years now, there is no cure, and it flares up once in awhile, the last time my sickness went crazy was after the AWB law sunset and in about sixteen months I had new 4 AR most of them I built and customize to my preference.

Around early '05 I was similar to your setup, my first was a new never issued USGI M16A2 Colt upper half, then followed by a Colt 6721 lower with Vltor Modstock buttstock kit, my third component was a 6721 upper half, fourth was a LMT 16" M4 upper half, fifth a Colt Match Target 6601 stripped lower which I populated with Colt LPK, then finally near the end of that same year a LMT Defender 2000 complete lower.

For your to do list, I have a LaRue LT104 QD scope mount for about year and a half now and it is excellent, for your rear BUIS if you want elevation adjustment the KAC 600m Micro rear folding sight are pretty good, if you wanted no elevation the Troy standard rear BUIS are my favorite for all around all ranges.

If you don't have a weaponlight yet get any Surefire brand, model of your choice, I have several and never had any problems with them.

Then after that you would need another lower may I suggest either the Colt MOE series lower half because it have the new desirable "M4 CARBINE" roll marks or DD, BCM, and if you have more coin Noveske or KAC.
