I apologize if this topic comes up alot, but I have been through a few builds and havnt truly been satisfied.
What I want out of this build (upper) is the one rifle I will want/need to own- classes, home defense, target, SHTF, etc. Also, I would eventually want to run a suppressor. Weight isnt much of a concern, as long as it doesnt exceed ~12 lbs. I already own the essentials, just need the upper receiver sans bcg, ch, optic.. Im not looking to build the upper, so if you suggest something, plz suggest a combo like what BCM offers. I would like a 16" 1:7 or 1:8 barrel with extended rails but not a tube (VTAC's, JP, Samson EVO, etc.). I own some slim free float rails and im not really comfortable with how "weak" they feel compared to something like the RAS rails on my issued M16A4. One thing that concerns me with my current rifle is how "weak" the rail feels. When I say weak, I mean I am not too confident in the zero being maintained. The rails just dont feel as concrete as a set of quad rails from KAC, DD, Larue, etc. Was thinking of an SPR/M4 flash hider mount to eventually run the suppressor. Would like to run a bipod on the end. Was thinking one of the smaller Harris QD options from LaRue? The issued grip pod isnt my thing. I hope im not all over the place with this post.
