I like mine too.  It's a compromise, probably not the best for just a vfg or a bipod but it works well enough for both.  It's pretty much what you expect it to be and for me that was a good thing.

Agree...they're not the best VFG, either and they don't look sexy but they are a good piece of kit (the .mil version).  Most guys wouldn't have a bipod if it weren't for them.

I like mine.

Its longer than would be ideal, but its got to be to house both the legs and the mechanism to lock/release the legs.

Bought mine on ebay for $40.

Money well spent IMO.

I dont slam my rifles down and beat the crap out of them. My drill insructor would repel out of the trees/jump out of a spider hole/magically&mystically appear and begin to beat the ever loving shit out of me for defiling my rifle that way.

Having said that, The Militiary version with the metal leg inserts is reported to be strong enough to stand on, While mounted to the rifle) without breaking.

The less expensive plastic one, (no metal inserts) is plenty strong enough for the vast majority of what 99.99% of the population and users will need.

I've never seen people use them particularly well. Try learning to monopod off the magazine first - likely this will let you shoot as accurately for free.

I like them alot. They are very good for standing a rifle up for photos instead of on the floor with feet showing. I have 2 types =The one an the AR is plastic with metal inserts in the legs(GPS02) and the one on the AK has solid allum. legs from a GPS01 that were put on a GPS02 body and the attachment bolt has been changed to a thicker bolt and the rail gripper piece is also metal from a GPS01. I got it on Ebay from a guy who had a GPS01 with a damaged body so he combined the good parts with a GPS01.

I got an extra one if you want to try it. Let you try it out and if you like it we can work something out, if not send it back.

LOL! YES!

In all actuality, I've used them in Iraq and more recently, Afghanistan, and I cannot get the damn things to break. I like to think of it as a compromise between a VFG and Bipod. Its perfect to the minute-of-man shooting that your average soldier will be doing. If you want the razor's edge of precision, go with a Harris/LaRue Tactical LT-706  / BRM-S combo.

ETA: Eye-candy- My RECCE-styled (not clone!) rifle.......

Thanks for the offer but I actually picked one up at the gun show last weekend.

They just seem like they wouldn't hold up but it sounds like they are pretty tough.

Picked it up for my A4 clone.

Bingo.

I kinda use one, makes it a lot easier than monopoding on a mag.

I hate them.  They're not a good bipod, nor are they a good VFG.  And to make them even worse, they're bulky and heavy.

A compromise, useful for certain applications. At the range it is a built in stand for my Colt M16a1 with Shrike upper.

I feel the same way, I prefer the KAC grip and a Harris bipod...

It's one of the ugliest things I've hung off my rifle, besides back in the early '90's when we used to tape 3 cell Maglites to our M16A2 handguards, but it is a very functional piece of kit and I find myself going back to it time and time again.  It makes for a good steady shooting platform when you have to make a long shot and are using artificial support like the top of a wall, a vehicle hood or rocks.  If my RCO is on my M4 then my Grip Pod is on it too.

i just got this in today,

it cost 30 bucks, and it feels very sturdy, has the metal inserts (a magnet will stick to it), and over all feels well built, i but half my weight on it and it was able to take it.

They're big and bulky compared to a KAC grip, but they're much lighter than a Harris bipod + mount + other grip.  It's a pretty good compromise to get everyone a more steady shooting platform without adding a lot of weight.  The only one I've seen break was from a gunner in an LMTV traveling across rough roads on resupply missions with the weight of the M4 bouncing up and down on potholes, and it made it about 50 missions (after replacing, the gunner left the legs in instead of out to prop up the rifle on the turret).

Please don't support the thieves that are stealing from American companies by knocking off patented products. You hurt American companies and the people they support, and get junk in return. This new philosophy of "buy the cheapest and replace it several times" never pays off. You spend more in the end, and hurt honest people in the process.

I also thought somethin seemed fishy about that, the price is really cheap even for a cheap grippod(retail $100 i got mine for $40)
