How many of you guys use it? And how would you compare to other triggers?
I mean for $60... wow..the 6 reviews on their site are great.. but I want to hear about it first hand. |
| I would go with Geissele, but I just can't bring myself to spend that much on a trigger if there is one sorta in the same ballpark if you get what I mean. I'm aware that Spikes' trigger won't be near as good. But I figure for $60.. I should be able to see a significant difference versus the stock Spikes trigger. ( I have a Spikes lower) |

I have them in all three of my rifles, for the money you can't beat them. They also accompany a nickel boron BCG very well. I'm pretty sure that's next on my list. Is that worth the price?Off topic but I love the Nickel boron BCG, very easy to clean, etc. There is a current discussion going on here: http://www.ar15.com/forums/t_2_282/209725_spikes_nickel_boron_bcg_.html |

| The Spikes is a standard mil-spec trigger with a NiB coating on it. That is what makes it smoother, not the trigger itself...the coating. The others JP, Wilson etc. are EDM cut triggers, with exact dimensions, that are cut to release quicker and with less effort. Comparing the two against the Geissele really isn't a fair fight. A good (cheaper) set up is the Spikes ($60) with a JP yellow/red spring kit ($10). That is the most cost effective way ($70) to a good trigger without getting 3 digits in price. |

I have several Spikes battle trigger sets, I do like them. They are well worth $60 to me, altho I still install Tubbs springs (would also try JP) to make them even better. I also have a couple sets of LWRC NiB trigger groups that feel very similar to my Spikes with spring upgrades.
I also have a couple Geiselle triggers on dedicated bench ARs, there is no comparison, nor should there be. They are different and that is good. I really do not like standard AR triggers, nor do I want a 2 stage on a fighting rifle- that's just me. All that said, I slicked up a standard DD trigger using Tubbs springs and that is a very good trigger, probably my best single stage overall. There is no magic to the Spikes battle triggers, but I see zero negatives about them either. It's just $60 and most feel it is well spent, I converted several of my friends to them, they haven't complained. And- I have one Spikes NiB BCG, it is fine but I do not see anything that makes me believe it is worth it's cost. Sure, it cleans up easier- that means very little to me. I do not believe I will buy another. |

I have one. Upgraded to it from my stock RRA trigger.
I think it was a decent upgrade for the money. The RRA trigger was fine, but Spikes breaks so clean and smooth that I really like it. Other than that small upgrade, for aesthetics it looks great - nice hint of chrome. |

( I have a Spikes lower) I have a Spike's Battle Trigger and a Geissele SSA. The SSA is light years better. They aren't in the same ball park - they aren't even playing the same game. Geissele is worth it. |

I just installed the Spikes Battle Trigger kit in my recent M&P15 build. I was looking for a single stage type of action but a much improved, less gritty pull with a crisp letoff. That's exactly what my $55 bought me, courtesy of Joe Bob Outfitters. Personally, IMO the NiB coating cannot be beat for intrinsic lubricity in a hard, long-wearing coating. I will be replacing the FCGs in my other ARs with more Spikes BT kits. Buy with confidence.

I don't really want a 2-stage in my SBR. Am I dumb, or am I doing it right? The SSA may be two stage but it is nice. Not like a match trigger at all. It gives you just enough pressure in the first stage to feel when you have hit the wall, and when you go to pull through it gives you a decent weighted second stage with an excellent breakover. Very smooth and very safe feeling. |
