I am installing a new phantom flash supressor and if I tighten it all the way, the top notch doesny line up with the fab and the part to keep the dust from flashing up is canted to the side, do I need to rotate it less than a quarter turn back to line up and use blue licorice owe just rotate the  quarter turn. The crush washer is installed properly.

The question is I guess, do I need to try to tighten it more because of the crush washer or not

The crush washer should crush until you stop. Did you tighten it too much and flatten it out ?

I had to reread your post. When the flash hider hits the crush washer you should be able to turn it more ( tighten ) to line the notches up.

No which probably means it's not tight enough, I just want to make sure before I go any  tighter. E whole upper was turning in the barrel vice but I probably didn't have that tight enough

Thanks

The first time I wondered the same thing. You can get a couple turns yet if needed .

Lube it as you would a barrel nut and tighten and loosen until it's timed

I figured it out. I don't know what it was but I went and bought a new crush washer and it worked just fine
