I'm looking at the Vortex Link here to Midway I see alot of fellows using them and they seem to have good reviews. I'm setting up 2 carbines that will be pretty much identical other then one is a middy so I'll be buying 2 of them and just need a little push from the hive before I hit the submit button at Midway. They are 50.99 there. To be totally honest if I get a small amount of benefit I'll be happy. I think they look cool as hell so that's the real motivator. The only thing I don't like is the cut ring in them for a suppressor. Anyone know of a similar unit without the groove? Could anyone describe how this behaves compaired to the regular type I have now?

This is the last thing I need other then figuring out how I'm going to sling them. The Colt is really FDE, it turned sorta olive when I brightened my pic

I have the 1st gen Vortex with the ring cut in the front. It suppresses flash just fine but the tuning fork "ping" is annoying. I find the AAC Blackout a little less annoying but it is still there. You can still hear it resonating through the suppressor.

ETA: Wilson Combat Accutac and AAC Blackout both have 3 prongs (less pinging) but still have grooves.

I'm in the same boat, still looking. Rainier has the same Flash Hider for less and they have their own version, the XD Flash hider. A four prong, prongs are straight like the AAC (3 prong).
You can hit Youtube for a night video on just about every FH out there, a demonstration showing how effective each is could help with your decision. The tuning fork effect is a common complaint that would / could make or break the deal depending on the user.

I just read a test on flash suppressors, might  have been on here. The A2 cage did suprisingly well.

I'm a fan of the AAC Blackout.
