[ARCHIVED THREAD] - Building clones

I have been wanting to build a few clones here to replace the one AR I owned and sold. I was wondering though should I buy the uppers I want already built and any old lower or purchase a rifle then add the do dads later? If it helps all will be based around either the 20in government barrel or 14.5 M4 16in if I cant find one.

Hmm I'm liking those prices, how dose quality stack up? Because at least one of them will be my all around gun. Range, competition, training SHTF type stuff.

I do want to do a A4 or A2 clone for my dad, but I'm thinking of a SOPMOD clone first.
