Hey all,

I just finished a lightweight AR build and I wanted to share. I went with an A1 upper with a 14.5 pencil barrel with permanently pinned flash hider. A light weight CAR15 type 1 stock set in FDE to finish it out.

It tips the scale at a pretty respectable light weight of 5.6lbs empty (as pictured with empty mag and sling)

The specs are as follows:

NDS Upper
Delaware Machinery lower
Rock River two stage trigger
Misc. lower receiver parts
J&T Distributing barrel (1-9)
Palmetto buffer
Phantom flash hider
CAR15 stock set FDE (unknown maker)
Magpul trigger guard FDE
Re-production M1 Carbine Sling

I wouldn't say this was a "budget build" when I started it but it ended up coming together pretty cheap. I think I spent just under $600.00 total for the build.  With the exception of the lower receiver, barrel, flash hider and sling, I got all of the parts right here on EE. It shoots great...well I should say that it functions great. I have only shot it for function and haven't even sighted it in yet.  I'll post on how accurate it is later but the trigger pull is great and I suspect it will shoot just fine for what I want it to do.

I was looking to build a simple, rugged, lightweight carbine and I think I did just that....what do you all think?

I like it! How did you get a black NoDak receiver?

I got lucky.....I was surfing through the EE adds and there it was for sale, brand new, never mounted, so I said...... "I'll take it!"

The description said it was black and that's exactly what I was looking for. The black color match to the lower is almost perfect, I couldn't have planned it any better.

Thanks for looking!

I believe (if I recall correctly) the seller bought the upper "in the white" from NoDak and had it anodized black with some sort of permalube coating added on the inside of it as well. As I said, it matches the lower perfectly...It looks like they were factory made for each other.
