| I was thinking about buying a few uppers and lowers. Anyone have feedback on Aero Precision they are very inexpensive but are they good? |
|
This comes up every few weeks. The Aero Precision lowers I used were as good as any I have built, nary a problem.
Seems some were released with thin anodizing, not mine. Seems some were released with a tight magwell, not mine. I would have no problem building more, and I may try some of their uppers. AP has done me right. |

My AP magwell was too tight, I saw the issue though. The corners were not completely machined. Could have been fixed quicky with a file and some alumablack, I just sold it. |

The COP units are an incredible value for a truly monolithic upper with ingenius modularity and quality fit and finish. I will buy more. surplusammo.com had C.O.P.uppers with a free lower recently, which is an awesome deal. I don't know if they are still running that offer, but it is a no brainer if you are in the market for a monolithic upper. Great CS from the guys at surplusammo.com. I own the carbine length and the midlength versions. My favortie uppers, by far. |

| I compared mine to a recent Colt and could find no differences. It built out nicely with no problems and a CMMG upper mated with it like they were cut from the same piece. This has been asked many times and it's always the same answer. I didn't know about the C.O.P. uppers - thanks for mentioning that. |

Having the option on which rails go where is fantastic. I'm a lefty and I don't want this build 100% festooned with crap so I have a smooth rail on the right side of the set up, a 1/2 rail on the (for a flashlight) and a full length (for mounting my FUG) w/QD slot on the bottom. I'm considering putting a 1/2 rail on bottom to save weight. That would take me about 5 minutes. It's fantastic. |

The anodizing was weaker on the earlier releases but that was changed and the newer ones (from the last year or so) have a more durable finish.
The mag wells used to be on the tighter end of the spec, but because of the problems fitting with PMags especially, they've been opened up to the large end of the spec. I have three Aero Precisions and an SAA (machined by them) and only the SAA has any problems and that was in the very first batch we got when we started out. The Aero Precisions are all newer and fit everything fine, even the one I'm using as a dedicated .22 with a Chiappa upper. |
