I'm not adept at tearing these things apart and doing parts replacement but I need some help form those of you more knowledgeable.  The trigger is not returning on my AR.  I can't see anything (like a popped primer) in the trigger mechanism.  Does this sound like something as simple as a trigger return spring?  Is this dificult to change?

Thanks in advance!

Trigger return spring?

It sounds as if the hammer is being held by the disconnector and not resetting.

Did you perform a function check on the trigger?

Function check?  The trigger will not move.  There is no play in the trigger and it is frozen to the rear.  The hammer moves when I push down on it but the trigger will not move at all.

Did you assemble this yourself?

What brand of AR is this?

Remove the hammer and trigger from the lower.

The build it yourself section has tacked threads at the top of the forum on how to assemble a lower.  Follow those to remove your FCG.

Briefly, wear some eye protection and use a punch to knock out the hammer pin and then the trigger pin.  The eye pro is because the parts are under spring pressure.

If the gun used to work and now it doesn't, I'd bet something is stuck in there or (less likely) a part is broken.

If it never worked, something is most likely assembled incorrectly.

There aren't many parts to worry about - two pins, the trigger, the hammer, the hammer spring, the trigger spring, the disconnector, the disconnector spring, the selector, the selector detent, and the selector detent spring.  The selector and related parts should be able to stay in the rifle.  If they're interfering with removal of the trigger and disconnector, unscrew your grip and the selector detent spring and detent will come out, allowing you to slide the selector out.

It's very simple to assemble/disassemble this stuff.

This happened to a buddy of mine a couple weeks ago. Once he unsrewed the grip and pulled
out the selector a small peice of brass fell out. Re-assembled and all worked fine.

I had this happen to me with a factory built  RRA Coyote. I pulled the FCG and a piece of spring wire about 1/4" long was being held by surface tension in the rear of the lower and would intermittently slip under the rear of the trigger and lock it up tight. I'm betting a piece of debris is in there somewhere. Good Luck!

Got it.  I pulled out the hammer and trigger pins and out fell  a very small piece of metal.  Looked like the the end of a screw or pin, maybe 1/32".  Trigger works fine now.  I'll take it out this week and put some rds thru it to make sure.

Thanks for the help!!

Nice.

Oil it up and shoot some rounds down range!
