So I don't actually know much about my current buffer tube.  I believe it came with a cheap CAR stock I bought at a gunshow a while back that I no longer use because it was pretty sloppy.  I have since bought and use an MOE stock, but can't remember if a tube came with it or if I kept the old one (does a tube come with the magpul stocks).  Anyway just ordered a vltor carbine modstock to try out, and figure I would look into my tube and spring setup while at it.  Can someone point me in the right direction for a quality tube/spring/buffer setup?  Also for use with an MOE or VLTOR stock should I be getting a commercial or milspec tube?

Thanks

Magpul stocks do not generally come with a receiver extension unless it was included in a 3rd party's package deal (which I've never personally seen).

The problem we have here is the MOE stock has a commerical AND mil-spec receiver extension version available. I'd recommend checking your invoices/receipts or measuring the extension to be sure.

If you want to purchase a mil-spec tube with buffer and spring, Bravo Company has a kit available here: http://www.bravocompanyusa.com/Stock-Hardware-Mounting-Kit-Mil-Spec-p/stock%20hardware%20kit.htm

As far as which you want to buy... Buy the one that fits the extension you want to use. Personally, I prefer the mil-spec extensions because they allow for more stock choices and are generally stronger than their commercial incarnations.

Hope this helps.

I have this:  Bravo Company Stock hardware mount (milspec)  Looks like as magpul and VLTOR go - some are milspec and some aren't you should probably check what you ordered and see if it is milspec or commercial (or post it here and someone will figure it out for you).

I run mostly mil-spec, just for interchangeability, but I've got one rifle with a commercial tube.

MOE's can come with or without the tube/buffer/spring.

How high-end are you planning on going?  PWS Enhanced tubes are top notch, but kinda pricey.

I've got a couple Vltor tubes and they're nice as well...

I prefer Vltor buffer tubes but then again I mostly run Vltor Imod stocks

Like others have said make sure you get the correct size for your stock

I've never actually posted a pic on here so I may try to do that tonight to get some help identifying this part.  May wait for the VLTOR to come in before I decide on what I'm doing.

Also am waiting for my first Gunfighter latch.  Now I read all about it's improvements, and I understand your not always going to support side charge, but is it safe to say a support side charge with this handle has no ill effect?  Basically does its construction make a support side charge equal to regularly charging the rifle when it comes to stress on the handle and such?
