I am considering building my wife an AR15 she weighs about 100lbs and had a shoulder injury. So lightweight is my first consern. She is only 5 foot so it will probably have to be an SBR, but I also want it to be combat effective. Any addvice would be greatly appreciated.

LW barrel
Customizable rail system
VLTOR IMOD stock

Play with the buffer weights until you find the heaviest that will reliably run, slap on a good break or can to minimize felt recoil and muzzle rise... and you should be good to go.

accessorize to her liking.

Its not rocket science to build one from parts... and most parts from most manufacturers (read : reputable manufacturers) nowadays are high quality and well made, so its harder to find a "bad" product lately than it used to be.

good luck... come back with a more fleshed out list!

Brake, buffer (I like the STT2 from spikes), EMOD or a CTR/MOE with the thicker buttpad and youll be GTG!

if she has a shoulder injury, is it just weakness, or painful?  If she has pain, HEAVY weight should be your main concern.  a lighter gun is going to make her curse you every time she pulls the trigger.

How about a Bushmaster light weight barrel assembly 16" then you can send it off to ADCO for a cut to 14.7 and permanently re install the issue flash hider.about $350 for everything plus work and shipping to ADCO

Get a fixed handle A2 upper from PK firearms with M4 ramps $140
BCM BCG$150
T handle $25
a $100 lower
parts kit $65
Telestock assy $90

little over $900

Light weight barrel is the lightest going.

this.

the lighter the rifle, the more the felt recoil.

Does she know she needs an SBR? are you sure this rifle is for your wife?

i've bought a gun "for my wife" before. at least thats how i rationalized it

Very little recoil from my 10.5" and I run a standard buffer. Light too....

Well she has trouble keeping my rifle shoulderd. She doesnt know she needs a SBR rifle but I think mine is just a lil too heavy. Iam sure this is for my wife Hahaha! My rifle suits me just fine, I have a 16'' free floater and i have thought of putting a shorter one in.

Thank you, I was already considering the CTR with the thicker pad. Aside from the price do you think the Enidine AR-Restor Hydraulic buffer would be better than the ST-T2?

Lightweight barrel, long gas system for easy/smooth cycling with minimal recoil. A 14.5" midlength would be nice, if you do SBR with it you could play with brakes and such... a 14.5 mid with a brake is like shooting a 22 almost.  Adjustable stock of course for shorter length of pull.  Smaller size grip... maybe that new Troy grip, or maybe an A1 (or A2 with the bump cut off).

In response to some previous comments, heavy buffers are bad in this application, as you want to minimize the recoil impulse from the buffer and a brake can't help with that.  I'd really suggest a 14.5 middie with a carbine buffer and a muzzle brake.
