I have zero firearm experience. Here is my first AR build for range shooting and a few tactical training courses
Stag Arms 14.5 Upper ($750) PCF Composite Lower Group ($128) ERGO Grid Lower Profile Rail Covers (Dark Earth) ($20) Total: $898 Is this a reasonable value build for a beginner? |

palmetto state armory has M4 uppers on sale for 399.95
here They have a great reputation to boot. |
| Might get some distractors about the PCF lower. I had one and they're solid enough for range work. Check/call Pete at Legal Transfers LLC for Stag prices. I know they have the outstanding pricing on RRA. |
| I bought a new stag model 3 on a impulse buy at a gun show for 815$ out the door I didn't want to build one since it was my first one, and I liked the warranty. I liked the new included front rail and gas block rail since I would eventually put one on anyway. Is that a decent price for a new one considering I wanted the rail anyway. He had It mis-marked at 739 instead of 789. It took a while to talk him into that price. 739+tax+debit card fee. |

I would look into BCM, LMT, or Spikes uppers. For $750, these are better options than Stag, IMO. Check out the equipment exchange! A complete upper including bolt carrier group and charging handle could be had for 500-600$. BCM no doubt is better than Stag Arms, LMT and Spike. Among Stag Arms, LMT and Spike, which one of the three has better quality? |
