Has anyone ever run one of these triggers?  Or knows someone who shoots one. Any help would be appreciated.

Search is your friend. This comes up really often.

The running consensus is g2g. I'm running some and love the stupid things. Really smooths out the milspec trigger group without high cost.

I like them. I am in the process of switching the rest of my AR Lowers to those Truggers. No complaints

Is this the NiB coated FCG?  If so, I replaced my RRA stock 2 stage with it, and it shoots nicely.  It doesn't have as many rounds thru it as my stock Colt FCG, so it isn't as nice, but it isn't bad at all, and I expect with time, it'll just get better.

Got one, working on switching to all the coated ST trigger groups.

If you are talking about the Spikes NiB trigger group, it is called the Battle trigger usually. Is this the one you are referring too?
It is a very nice trigger (the battle triggers that is).
I have these on a few rifles, two of which I installed Tubbs springs on after breaking them in, even makes them better.
The other set I had to use the heavier hammer spring on a 5.45 build and it takes away from the benefit quite a bit.

I'm running the battle trigger on a pistol and middy set ups, and like them.  I'm intending to put them on all my ARs eventually.

And now they won't even reply to if there is any update's. So to me,,,that mean's no reply=no update=no purchase. If they follow through with getting them cut,,I'll be all over one then.

Yeah, that didn't take long, it was there just a few hours ago.

Here is another that was related to that thread, has all the same basic info and more, with pics of replacements that were pretty much the same.

Unwanted Burst mode Note: This is archived so everyone may not be able to see it.

Wonder how long before this one is swept under the rug too..LOL

Funny, I remember both threads very well (along with a few other similar ones) because just like madcratebuilder, they caused me to not buy the 3 Battle Triggers I had planned to buy during that same time.

From what i remember spikes said they use the same company that makes colts disco, but because of the coating it makes the marks more normal. Honestly my colt disco looks just like the spikes but because of the coating on it u cant see them. So my guess is its a none issue

Do your Colt discos really have chunks missing from the engagement areas like these?  Not sure coating can fix or hide stuff like this...excluding truck bed liner coating type stuff :-)

except same company doesn't mean same specs. manufacturers can vary the level of quality of their products. you pay for higher QC and tolerances. apparently the bar was set lower on those disconnectors.

That other thread was VERY informative.

It is hard to believe that they replaces a piece of crap trigger with the same piece of crap.

I purchased one of these NB coated triggers and noticed similar marks on my disconnector as well. I spokes with Spike's tech support over the phone and was told this was normal and that the NB coating simply tends to bring out the flaws in the metal.

For what it's worth, I have a new in the bag Stag/CMT trigger with similar marks located across the disconnector. Also, the rep informed me that Spike's would be happy to RMA the disconnector if I wanted them to.

I might still drop by my local gun shop and get  a second opinion, but the conversation I had over the phone with spikes really eased my concerns.

Probably ok then.  I think my reply to the "flaws in the metal" response might have been, "You're using flawed metal?"

i doubt it, the thread went on for like 6 or 7 pages and tom answered alot of questions, one was he was getting a diff company to make his and they are going to use a better way, i think wire cutting or something the current ones are stamped, no telling why it was deleted though but im sure its for a reason, could be the fact that spikes got removed for not paying their bill lol

I think you might be referencing whomever Spikes was getting these trigger parts from, which I dont know any of the backstory on since I never saw that thread.

I was referencing the company that Hellbound was talking about that was quite popular a few years back then lost a lot of their customer base due to poor QC and CS, and I think he was mentioning CMMG, hence 'the four letter company name'.

I have three battle triggers. The first one had a perfectly  cut and finished disconnector,  I Really liked the smoother  gritless trigger pull (for a GI) and ordered two more about a month later and the disc's both had lines from the stamping on the sides  and one hook looked worse than the other.

I put the ugly hook in a dedicated 22 and it has been smooth and  flawless. It has plenty engagement.

All three trigger and hammers look great. Spike's Said they will replace the disc's when they go to wire cut or another manufacture  but that's all they had in NB finish at the time so it was black or another of what they had.

Their warranty service has always been great and I'm not worried about getting perfect replacements when new ones are available. They did me a $500 huge once that was unexpected so I'm not worried about a stupid $2 part.
4/12/2011 6:42:26 AM EDT
[#32]
I have four of them in my rifles.  The hammers are all perfect.   1 Disconnector is perfect, 2 have tiny inperfections, and 1 looks like chip like is posted in the thread.  They all function the same, as in very smooth and lighter than stock triggers, with TTI 10% reduced powered springs they have a excellent feel and function 100% for me so far and a cost that barely higher than what a stock trigger group costs.  Small chips, imperfections are going to be in most stamped parts, so they are aparently having them wire cut in future so they will look better.  The small flaws are VERY difficult to knotice on a flat black surface.  As anyone that refished automative parts will tell you there is no color that hides better than a flat black finish and there is nothing that brings out flaws like chrome.  You can have bumpers with a flat black finish that look perfect and the entire thing looks like garbage when you have it chromed.  Thats why when I'm restoring a musle car if aftermarket bumpers are not available I pay Tri-state $1200 to straiten and rechrome and ship them my cores.  A chip should give you less metal to metal contact and lower pull slightly, although I have not been a notice a difference between disconnectors.

I have several hundred rounds through my Spike's Battle Trigger and it's been fine.  I ran it at a 3-gun match on Sunday with no problems.
