Can sombody explain to me what this means?

What is the advantage of preban vs post-ban?

Pre-ban before 94 AWB, only matters now if you are in a few states that still have it. In these states you need a pre-ban to have flashider, bayo lug, etc.

So I live in Nebraska which is a free state and doesn't matter for me now. However, if I were to live in a state such as New Jersey, I wouldn't even be allowed to have a pistol grip on my AR? Or is what I read inaccurate?

Preban can refer to two things.  A configuration in which all the "assault weapon" features of a rife are in tact, ie - flash hider or threaded barrel to accept a flash hider, bayonet lug, collapsible or folding stock and pistol grip.

In ban states a preban gun is one that is manufactured before 9.13.94 and will usually allow you to be exempt from AWB regulations.

Unless you live in a state with a state assault weapon ban it doesn't matter to you
