I have a Colt LE 6920 and while reading different forums I hear people consistently complain about the pins being in a different position on Colts than from all the other manufacturers. Is this the case on my rifle? And, if so, does it mean that I'll never be able to use uppers from another manufacturer?
Also after buying my rifle I had a Troy free-float 7inch battle rail installed. To do this they had to remove the 'delta nut'. Is this modification permanent or could I, at a later date, go back to the original handguards that required a 'delta nut'? I realize this is a stupid question to ask considering I already did it but I was excited to get it installed and completely forgot to ask. I have no doubt I would have gone ahead with it but now I'm just wondering. |
| Delta nut is actually the internal barrel nut and the external delta ring. They can be reinstalled. At one time Colt used larger diameter trigger and takedown pins. Current guns do not. I believe the 6920 never did use larger takedown pins as it is a relatively new model. If you have larger pins getting a trigger may be more complicated. |
| Older Colts had a larger front takedown pin; you'll often see them with the screws. If your front pin is the same size as your rear pin, you're OK. But, to echo what's said above, I haven't heard of a 6920 with a larger takedown pins - even if you do have large pins, Daniel Defense makes a flat top upper to accomodate the older Colt pin so you can use a newer upper. |
