| Lately I see alot of lowers out their anymore with integral trigger guards. What's the reasoning behind this? Does it make for an overall stronger receiver or something else? |
| I think it's probably easier to machine. The lowers I've seen with integral trigger guards are "winter" style that allow large fingered gloves to fit inside. Everybody seems to switch to the winter trigger guards anyways so the company is doing them a favor and cutting machining time. |
Saves me a minute of installation time, 10minutes of EE searching for a deal on an MOE guard, looks a little better, no risk of breaking off an ear (thankfully never done this), and is probably a little stronger. For $40-50 more I'd get a lower with integral trigger guard, but most are much more than that which is why I don't have one

Quoted: Personally I'd rather not have the integral trigger guard unless it was especially nice. Otherwise the standard setup allows you to choose the trigger guard you want. And if it gets in the way you can swing it completely away for gloved hands and such. The standard setup is best IMHO. |
