Looking for a compensator/flash hider for my AR w/ 16" bbl.  I know the Battle Comp is great and is most likely what I'll buy.  However, I'm looking for other options that aren't as expensive.  What else is out there that will function well to reduce muzzle jump?  I'm not concerned about recoil, rather simply staying on target.  Here's the rifle.

I have a Miculek and fsc556. I would try out Rainers comp next.

Honestly, the best thing you could do to reduce muzzle jump is to cut that FSB and put a longer rail on there.

RRA Tactical Comp. Short, loud as hell, works and its 35 bucks. Buy it and thank me later.

BTW Im using the Troy Claymore.

I'd stick to your first choice

It is the lightest muzzle device of the ones I have, lighter than the A2 bird cage.

Another option would be adjustable gas. I drilled and tapped a gas block with a set screw for my 12.5" gun and the muzzle flip was considerably reduced after I tuned it to my reloads. I use a Vortex on it until the can paperwork clears.

Yep.  Both of those are sweet.  I think its the BattleComp for now and maybe a can down the road, if I ever build an SBR.

Thanks for the feedback guys.

Does anyone know if a reputable member of this website has ever put together a good installation video for the battlecomp or any compensator for that matter?

You put it on with your hand and torque it to spec with a wrench.

When I was looking for a flash suppressor to pin and weld on my 14.5" carbine, I went with the Vortex.  That thing works great at flash suppression but doesn't do much as a comp.  Of course at the time the Battle Comp wasn't around either and I thought that I needed the flash suppression part of it, but in reality I have not done much night time shooting.

If I could do it over again I would definitely go for the Battle Comp 2.0 and pin and weld it.  Being able to stay on target would be more of a benefit than the flash suppression at least for my shooting needs.

Next build!!!!!
