I am sorry if this is the wrong section for this and feel free to move it! im just very aggravated so wanted to post
I placed an order with Tommy almost 2 months ago. I have sent probably 10 emails and only ever seen a few replies telling me its out of stock. well 4 weeks ago he said it should be 2 weeks and i have sent and called him almost every day and have not heard from him. I have heard he takes awhile but 2 months?? that seems pretty ridiculous. I am about ready to call my bank and get this handled because so far im out $600 and my card was ran almost instantly. any help would be awesome! thanks Austin |

I just received mine this week after a long wait. FYI, the Lite rails are supposed to be shipping faster than the Omega rails. Check the industry forum and you are better off calling instead of sending emails. |

thanks for the reply! I have called almost every day for 2 weeks and every time i get a automated voicemail.
I even told him last time i talked to him that i would like to have everything but the rail shipped to me and i would pay for shipping when the rail is in stock and he stopped talking to me. I understand if its going to take some time but i really would like communication because it just sounds like he doesnt care and its making me want to cancel the order and just spend the extra cash elsewhere but ive already waited this long so i keep thinking whats another week but they keep adding up and adding up.. |

I'm glad to see that you found the January update in Smartgunner's industry section. That really explains it all. He is swamped with orders, did not anticipate the response from arfcom and beyond at the old prices, and is dedicating his time to getting orders shipped rather than answering the 100 emails/calls every day of "where is my upper?" Constantly calling is not going to sped things up. I ordered my upper w/o rail 12/27 and received it a couple weeks ago but I was anticipating a 2-3months wait and perfectly fine with that.
You should try being a little more patient and understanding. Yes, Tommy failed in the communication department. Unfortunately, to get the crazy low price that you did, you have to wait a while for the product. It's a trade off.

and yes i understand they got backed up like freakin all hell. but its just hard being the customer and giving them alot of cash and not hearing anything. That's the one thing i think small business's struggle with is communication. Like others have said a little comm goes a long way and even a response back sayin "Not yet" would be better than feeling ignored because then you start to feel like you are being scammed or forgotten.
but I just talked to him and he is a nice guy and i changed my rail to a light rail (hope im not gonna regret that move) and should take 2 weeks he says. thanks for the help and showing me that thread because i have only found threads on another forum and no one had any good responses or feedback austin |

Well worth the wait IMO. I waited two months and a few days. Every online vendor is somewhere around 875 to 950 for the same upper as Smartgunner. I would gladly wait a few months to save 500 to 600 dollars. There is a lot of butt hurt going on in that thread. My only complaint is/was that it was not advertised that payment would be taken in full during the time of the deal being offered.

Pictures do not do these upper justice. |
| The more people bitch and complain when fine vendors get backed up due to offering insanely good deals, the less likely said vendors will be to run them again. Yes, communication could have been better, but you're still getting a top notch upper at bargain basement prices. Think about that. |

Your credit card should not be charged ever until what you ordered ships. Correct. We should be able to buy any weapon we want without jumping through hoops. What should be and what is are often two different things, as unfortunate as that may be. Smartgunner charges your card when your order is placed, for multiple reasons explained in the a fore mentioned "January update" post. |

Your credit card should not be charged ever until what you ordered ships. Even for something that is custom built to your specs that is priced basically right at dealer cost??? I could see it now, if Tommy(or any other company) didn't charge upfront for a custom built upper at the margins he is, he would probably have to get another warehouse to store all the uppers where people just ordered them on a whim knowing they weren't going to be charged, and then didn't pay or didn;t have the money when it is ready. If you think orders are delayed or SG/DD is in the weeds now, geez that would create a nightmare. While in a perfect honest world this would be possible, and in the old days where a handshake sealed a deal with honor to back it up, sure, but it is just not smart for any business to do that this day and time..and even more so when the margins are so slim. IF he was charging full retail like almost everyone else, and/or sold only the configurations he wanted you to buy, heck yes you shoudln;t be charged until it ships. |

If you ordered and have RECEIVED your order.. then you should not be telling people who have NOT received their order how to feel. Of course those have received their order are satisfied with the service, after all that's what all of us who originally ordered expected to happen. Some people have been waiting almost 4 months and it doesnt take a rocket scientist to understand why they are upset.
I've personally been waiting 3 months, and while I have been patient (because I understand its a great deal that cannot be matched).. the experience has not at all been what I was expected nor what I was told. |

I would rather pay more and get it now from another vendor. That is why I like pk and bcm they shipped fast.......... I would have too, IF I could find any DD factory built uppers to my specs... I certainly ain't gonna pay retail for uppers built by whoever (meaning not factory built at DD), and/or only in the configuration they think I need. Sorry, your but comparison is Apples to Oranges. To get an upper built how YOU want it, by the Factory, at 25% or so less than anyone else... all 3 have and will be worth the wait for me. Besides that I have weird taste and no one is gonna stock an upper exactly the way I want it.., I am certainly digging the purple with pink polka dot treatment Tommy arranged for DD to do for my custom build...LOL |
| Instead of charging the card all they would have to do is put a hold for a deposit not charge the card for the full amount and then before the upper ships charge the full amount that way they dont get screwed.Ive had custom work done and have done custom work for others.I require half down and full payment before the work goes back to the customer and like wise ive had to make a deposit wich is a hold on my credit card for whatever percentage required then the full amount gets charged once the product ships..to charge out right the full amount and then to keep delaying on promised delivery dates is not good customer service. |

I'll go against the grain and say that my gripe is with "fine vendors" who process a refund, tell me there is nothing they can do about it, and some 4 weeks later I am still without my fucking money. Mighty fine of 'em... I've learned the hard way that some of us have some justifiable bones to pick with Smartgunner. |

I would rather pay more and get it now from another vendor. That is why I like pk and bcm they shipped fast.......... Normally, so would I. But when I'm saving $300+.....I can wait. That's a good amount of savings. I would rather my card not have been charged, but I'm ok with it and understand the reasoning Tommy gave in his post. |

This was a fantastic deal and I already knew it was going to take time. So I never called or emailed once to bother Tommy. Just checked my status on line then finally got the shipped email. Then UPS took forever, partially due to the bad weather Anyway, long wait but worth every day when that long box from Daniel Defense finally came. No assembly problems at all and built exactly like I ordered it. How can I complain? |
