Im thinking about getting an upper with a lightweight barrel.  Any pros or cons you can tell me about lightweight barrels?
Will a lighter barrel increase recoil?

Thanx

Nothing but pros......lighter, better balance and did I mention lighter.   M4 profiled barrels share the same profile under the handguards and the added weight out front of the FSB doesn't do anythying to make it better so why carry it around.

I've yet to find any cons compared to my M4 and med contour barrels. I buy all lightweight barrels if I can anymore.

I have a 16" BCM lightweight hammer forged mid-length upper and BCM says that it's 4 ounces lighter than the normal profile upper. I love it and have noticed no bad side effects to the lower weight. My whole rig weighs in at right around 6 lbs.

Groups will open up quicker under prolonged shooting since the barrel will heat up faster.  Not a big deal if you're just shooting off a bench for a couple of mags, but it might be a problem if you plan to use it in a situation where you need to shoot a lot of rounds very accurately.
