I just read a website where an AR is being sold and this was one of the statements.

Honestly I dont wanna say whos doing this because that will cause a firestorm on this post and I dont care about them, what I wanna know is
Does this really do anythig?
How is the extractor beveled?

This is just curiosity more than anything else but I dont understand what they mean.

I can see smoothing the corners of the extractor and at the nose but the extractor is already beveled  so do they double bevel?  Kinda like a 2 angle valve job.

Thanks

Ever curious

IIRC, in The book of the AR15 this was talked about.  I think some extractors have sharp edges which will shave small slivers of brass off the case rim.  These shavings will build up and eventually "clog" the groove in the extractor causing problems.

I could be totally wrong on this though.

I had shavings jam up the firing pin tract from a sharp extractor shaving brass off of cases.

Seems like a stupid idea.  And a stupid excuse
