I am looking at what seems to be an original Colt Delta Elite. It is complete and unfired. Even the barrel wick is in place. This is a white label rifle. I am not sure what that means. Model number 6600DH. The white label on the aluminum hard case matches the serial number. The number is SP2421XX. I am prepared to pay over 2K for it. My question is what is the significance of the white label and is it worth the money. Thanks

That sounds like a nice complete DE. I'm honestly not sure what the significance of the white label is but it does sound like a sweet package. Personally I wouldn’t go over $1500 for NIB but then I really don't see it as a true collector gun beyond it being a rare-ish Colt. If you get it post pics!!!
For the above poster, The Delta Elite was both a 1911 and an AR. The 1911 was in 10mm (and maybe in .45 also) and could be had in blue or SS. They came with Pachmeyer wrap around grips with the DE red triangle logo. The AR was an off the shelf 6600 with a set of "Delta" decals on the grips, a $25 cheek riser and a crappy Colt marked Chinese scope in a cheap-ish hard case. I had a MAJOR hard-on for these when I was in high school back in the mid 90's but after actually learning about AR's it got pushed WAAAAAAY to the back of the list. I'd still like to have one to fill the slot the 16 year old in me still has for it but it's by no means something I "need". |

I was the same way when I first saw one back in the day. ..but in reality the AR Colt Delta Ellite..was elite marketing by Colt to sell rifles... For that price you could buy a flat top AR - trick it out somewhat and put it in a nice Pelican case... |

Your talking about the Colt Delta Hbar. There is one in the EE for $1700 I dont see it. could you send a link please. Poke Here |
| No offense, but when the Delta HBar was released it was one of the fanciest ARs around... but there have been dramatic improvements in the accuracy dept since then....kinda like Vettes.. a '67 with a great motor is fantastic, but a new 2011 Vette has come a long way , better mileage, better handling, better comfort, better engine management..... If you like the '67, get it, if not a newer version has a sorts of improvements . |

No offense taken. I have six ar's. Soon to be seven. I wanted this because its rare and cool. I remember looking at a colt brochure when I was in HS. This is what I wanted for graduation. I got a gold necklace. WTF! I say go for it..they are fantastic rifles. Hand picked best of the best Colt made. I was lucky enough to buy one brand new when they came out...and stupid enough to sell it and the matching Limited Edition Stainless 10mm Elite (1 of 1000). The only 2 firearms in 40+ years of ownership that I still regret selling....well maybe that open bolt MAC-10, dut that was a different kind of thing. But be aware, there are a lot of Colt Sporters trying to be passed off as Deltas... a Sporter with some Delta Emblems in a plastic bag does not a Delta make :-) Do your research and know the serial number ranges of REAL Deltas. Owning a real Delta is great, buying a Sporter you thought was a Delta ..would SUCK!! EDIT: BTW, I may still have some of the original magazine articles about the Delta. I remember one being titled "Colt's New Counter-Sniper Rifle" or something like that. If I can find them for you I will scan and post them. |

That old Colt will shoot just as well as any "modern" AR. |

Probably be a closer analogy to compare an '03 ZO-6 to an '11 ZO-6 |

I remember when they came out and were marketed as the Colt Delta Elite HBAR. Main reason I distinctly remember this is I purchased a SS and a blued Delta elite 10mm. I still have both. I do to, I have a friend who bought one, than another when they first came out, I didnt particularly care for the rubber coverd 3x9 (Tasco IIRC) and the buttstock cheek piece, made it kindaa a pita to cock, but it was nice for the day. IIRC didnt they also test fire them more to see which were the most accurate to convert the best of the Hbars to Deltas?? |

Did you get the pistol grip medallions? yes. they are just stickers. I saw some metal ones used on the delta pistols on GB. I will probably get another pistol grip and machine a recess in the plastic and put the metal ones in flush. Look around they're out there. I have a grip that has the medallions recessed into the grip. |

I had a variety of them over the years (70's-80's) that gave good service. The newer ones, not so much. |
