Got in midlength hand guards with delta  ring and triangle cap, didn't know there was a cap for bull barrel size. Now I do.

The hole in the  handguard cap  is larger than .750. looks like it was for a bull barrel

I had the same thing happen a couple months back.  I took a rotary tool with a sanding barrel/wheel an began boring out the hole.  If you take your time and make sure to keep the hole round it will work.  I placed it in a vise and made sure to have a light backdrop so the high points are visible.  It took me about an hour to do.  By the end there wasn't much material left in the inner wall of the end cap, but once it was installed you couldn't tell it had been opened up.  It actually looks better in my opinion because the opening around the barrel was a bit smaller than stock.  I could had spent the $12.00 to buy a new one but I got bored and made it a project.

For some reason I don't think that's going to work for the OP.

I think the OP means that the barrel he has is .750 and the cap is for a larger barrel! So, boring out the hole would just make things worse...

You can always make a hole larger, it gets difficult to make one smaller.
You can still use the end cap, it will just have some space between the barrel and edge of the end cap.

This brings up another question... Is it better to install a round or triangular endcap? It seems the round one makes a tighter fit with standard handguards. Also I've got some old handguards that fit the triangle endcap and they don't fit the round endcap. Not sure if the round handguards fit the triangle.

I know the Magpul MOEs fit the round endcap REAL tight and I think they fit the triangle endcap...

Midlength uses triangle. Handguards are triangular at front where flange is.

You could probably still use the endcap, the gas tube will go through it and partly help keep it in position, then once the handguards are installed, they will help keep it in position as well.

BUT having said that it's POSSIBLE to do so, doesn't make it a good idea.

Is the OP asking for a solution to some problem he has or just throwing out a random fact?

Just a random fact, solution was to order cap to fit .750 barrel. Couldn't make the hole smaller. Just hated to pay more for shipping than the part cost.

Some midlengths do, some use round endcaps.
