Newbie question
Looking for overall likes and dislikes Thanks in advance. |

I've owned two Rock Rivers, and both were very nice rifles. My current is their Elite CAR, with the previous being an Entry Tactical model.
Both were pretty much dead nuts from mechanical zero, which tells me they were well put together and accurate rifles. If this is your first AR, you won't be disappointed with a RRA, IMHO. |
| My first AR was a RRA. It's a good gun, but I like my second one more, which is a Spikes lower and BCM upper and I spent a lot less on my second one b/c I learned on here. I still have my RRA, but my go to gun is my BCM/Spikes AR. Altho many people hate "the chart," I found that I could get a better quality gun for less and since then I only look to buy BCM, Spikes and others that have top notch quality. |

Had a guy hate my RRA Predator Pursuit two years ago. He fancied himself a hot shot, but was having trouble hitting at a distance. His girlfriend, GF, had never shot a rifle before and was just watching.
Put my RRA PP on its bipod. Leupold 1-5 VX-III with factory installed target knobs. 360 yrds. 10 clay pigeons on edge standing up in plowed field against a hill. Orange ones. Gave the GF instruction of how to use left hand, tuck in stock to shoulder prone, how to see (+) reticle, how to breath, how to use right hand and one finger to pull trigger to first stop, how to pull through to release hammer on second stage, how to do nothing for a moment and hold the trigger to the rear. Let her dryfire a half dozen times. Took a rest. All in a total of 5 minutes or less. Set scope for range on big dial, gave 6 clicks into wind, and she fired while I glassed. She launched ten 69 grain Sierra HPBTMatch bullets in shoot, talk, see, shoot, talk, see. I misssed a wind change and she missed that one. I added wind and she was back on. 7 hits seen from 360 yards. Walked up and saw an eighth one had the center dome popped out of it without breaking the heavy edges. 8 of 10. I told the GF she was better than half the trained snipers in the world. (I realize a fully set up rifle and doing the scope for her makes it "easy", but be honest, a cherry on the trigger needed a rifle that would stay tight to do that well. On the four inch clays, the rifle was good for half the diameter and the GF didn't use much more. I was impressed.) The guy is still bitching about the rifle. |
| I have BRD,,,Bushmaster, RRA, DPMS disease...as thats all I own anymore. My RRA's are an Elite Comp (badass) and an Entry Tactical. I don't think I have ever seen a better factory upper to lower mating....these guns dont show a hint of light space between the two. Build quality is excellent. |

I have Noveskes, Colts, Spikes, Bravo Company, S&W, Rock River Arms, and DPMS carbines. Well, the DPMS are built on DPMS lowers with better internal parts, but I digress... I have no complaints about my Rock Rivers and I wouldn't sell them for a fair market price. |

I have seen a lot of RRA rifles that were perfect. Unfortunately, I bought one that was not. Mine was put together by someone who exercised minimal care, and they scratched the barrel pretty badly. The lower receiver is very uneven, as the left wall is much thinner than the right. I should have inspected it better before buying, but I never expected to have to. I am in the process of waiting for RRA to reply to my request for help on these.
On the functionality side, this puppy can shoot and it is accurate. I love the concept of the rifle I bought last weekend (LAR-15 ATH), and I love the way it handles. It is a good enough rifle to ensure I will be buying an LAR-8 this summer. I will just make sure to inspect it completely down to the last detail before walking out with it. |

I get tired of arguing against them.
Yes they are a good rifle. No they are not the best for the money. If you have yet to buy one, grab a BCM, Spikes, or Colt, or build with any of those companies' components. You will have a better made rifle, with better quality parts, for the same (or less) money. Hell, you can build a Noveske SPR or Recce ish rifle for around the same amount of money. |

Hell, you can build a Noveske SPR or Recce ish rifle for around the same amount of money. Are RRA's really that expensive? I only paid $800 + tax ($854 OTD) for my Eilte CAR A4 with all OD furniture, their tactical carry handle and a chrome BCG. There's no way I could get a Noveske or Colt for that kind of money. I'd be hard pressed to even build an equivalent spec'd BCM or Spikes for that kind of money either. I may be spoiled though, I only by RRA rifles up at Camp Perry during the matches. So I'm sure I'm getting a bit better pricing, but I didn't think it was that drastic of a discount. |
