Okay I do not know what the item is called or if one even exists but I will try to explain what I am doings and hopefully somebody will understand what I am trying to say. haha here goes.
Okay I have an AR-15 flattop, equivalent to bushmasters ORC Optics ready carbine. There is a rail on the gas block that is on the same plan with the rear upper receiver's rails. I am currently running a MOE carbine length handguard which sits at a level below the front and rear rails. I am looking for something like an extender or riser that I can clamp to the front and rear flattop rails that will bridge over the handguards to the rear.. Ideally it would run from the rear of the flattop to the front of the gas block. It does not need to add height necessarily but I understand that this will happen and I understand the consequences. I have seen many items that kinda seem close to what I am looking for but are either too short (dont bridge the gap) or done clamp to both rails . Does such a product even exist? what is it called? any help is appreciated. |

yes, something like a swan sleeve only with the ability to clamp onto the rails on the front block. does anyone know of any manufacturer that makes them, or at very least recommend a good swan sleeve type product that will extend over the gas block on a carbine length system and create a seamless rail from front to back.
The SL8/g36 has something like it, http://alpinetek.netfirms.com/guns/SL8/sl8-g36.jpg but for the ar15 |

I know this isn't what you're asking, but for the headache involved it would be much easier to install and quite possibly cheaper. Unless you are going for a certain look. Do you want the rail to cover the existing rail and run uninterrupted to the rear of the upper? All I can think of is a quad rail that looks like this. |

thats not really an option since its a CMMG piston gas block with a rail that is already at the same level as the flattop. I wanted a VLTOR CASV but they said it would not fit over the piston. you can modify them, some guy was selling one he modified on the EE a little while ago so its possible |
