Has anyone ever experienced a flash of fire from the chamber of your AR while shooting? Ive had it happen twice and always on the first round.

It could be your leaving too much gun oil or hoppes in the barrel. Your suppose to run a dry patch through before shooting it until it comes out dry. I've had it happen something like that before but there was a lot of smoke too.

Are you popping primers on your spent casings?  I can tell you that a flash of fire from the action is NOT normal...

Houston we have ignition!

I am going with excessive flammable liquids left behind.  Mop up after cleaning see if it still happens.

Normal.  Happens all the time when I or friends are running courses of fire.

Where are you seeing this come from?

ARs exhaust the gas from the operating system out the holes on the side of the bolt carrier, so you will see a blast of gas and in low light sometimes a bit of flame color out from those holes.

This. At night especially you can see a fireball from the muzzle and the ejection port.

I saw an M16 22lr conversion firing at night - little tiny fireballs coming from the election port were awesome

This is news to me.  I've never seen a fireball come out the side of my rifle.  I guess it's good that I was told about the possibility before it occurs.  I'll be able to continue shooting without panic or a blast shield in front of my face.

good info here. I did lube the action before i started shooting yesterday and It was an indoor range with low light conditions. why it happened on the first round only, who knows?...

Federal AE XM193 ammo
ASA side charger + M16 BCG.

happened on the 1st round because the excess lube or cleaner in your barrel burned up with the 1st round.

And more oxygen in the gas tube and inside the BC.... same process that gives you "first round pop" in a suppressor.
