After months and months of thinking... here is what i decided... and the finished product. What did you guys think? I think i'm addicted now? Everything spikes from lower to upper. Magpul stock and backup site. Bought everything in parts. My first build. Spikes CEO responded to all my emails personally. How cool is that?

Nice Spikes lower, but give us some specs on the rest of the rifle.

Trying to keep it simple. Still torn between aim point site or eotech... thanks for all the helpful comments.
12/11/2010 3:49:32 PM EDT
[#9]
Very Nice.  I have Eotech and Aimpoint.......Aimpoint + LaRue Mount = happier you in the long run.
12/11/2010 3:55:04 PM EDT
[#10]
thanks for the tip. which aim point you recommend?
12/11/2010 4:06:20 PM EDT
[#11]
I only own one, and its a comp ml3.  I wanted the smaller dot, and i didn't care about night vision compatability.  The aimpoint micros are hot right now, but that's not the way I went.  The larue website has some good mount / aimpoint combos.

BTW, I enjoy my eotech too, but I don't like changing its batteries.

Good looking rifle.  Great first build.
12/11/2010 5:37:29 PM EDT
[#13]
any ideas for the second build?
12/11/2010 5:39:18 PM EDT
[#14]
Nice.

[#15]
If you're wanting to go as light as possible and don't need night vision I would go with the Aimpoint H-1. However they are pretty pricey. You could find the old standard M68 (M2) on eBay for $250. I just saw on on there today for $250 with a mount.

i was looking to spend no more than $700. But after a lot of research and sugguestions from people here and my friends in the military who's been in action.. it's slowing climbing over $1000.00. unless people are lying to me all my parts are "mil spec"...

Nice rifle welcome to the addiction.

I started with one and then two then three .... then I bought five lowers all at once and I am working on knocking them all out.... Currently I have 4 complete and 4 lowers to work on.

[#27]
yah.. didn't think assembling a lower would that easy.. the way i saw it.. it would have taken about like 5-10mins.. dragged out the lower assembly to about 2 days... just to take in the fact that i have an ar now...

Just got a tactical latch today!! hehhehe.. .. i'll update pics soon..
12/19/2010 2:59:17 PM EDT
[#31]
ok.. here are some specs..

spikes lower
spikes enhanced lower parts kit with ergo grip
spikes 16.5 upper with quad rail
magpul stock
magpul back up sight
since the pick i returned the forward grip for a tactical latch for charging handle

it turned out to be pretty heavy on thefront end of the rifle. would turning it to a free float make it lighter? i plan to turn it into a shtf rifle/beater rifle. i plan to abuse the crap outta this rifle. would turning it to a free floater be practical?

What's witht he whole toe thing?... I swear most the guys on here are Shoe salesman HA HA HA!

Anyways! Nice Rifle man. I dig it the Most! Question on the Enhanced lower pack though? Have you shot it? and if so how does the trigger feel? if you can even compair to to a stock trigger.
1/6/2011 7:57:44 PM EDT
[#48]
hahahahhaa... i didn't know it was a thing... toes was not intentional.... hehehe.. thanks for the comments. I have not shot it yet.. been trying to get to the range.. but work and wife has been taking up my time... I don't have "me" time yet. I'm trying to go this saturday. I can compare with my buddy's service rifle. I'll let you know.

[#49]
alright gentlemen.. here is my final setup that i'm finally happy with for now.. but this setup is kinda heavy though... i can't imagine luggin this thing around all day...

now don't laugh.. i'm not a pro like most of you are.. but this is the first time i haven't destroyed a target frame. recoil wasn't too bad.. better than my rem 870. though my shoulder hurts now.. i'm like 5' 4''... it wasn't bad at all...  i was shooting kinda high left at first but when finally sighted the backup sight.. it was doing ok. once i sighted the red dot i was even better.. then i added the 3x mag.. i was even  better... i got two right in them middle.. all at 100 yards!!! all my rounds hit paper.... i love it..i did better with this than pistol shooting when i first started....

a hundred or so rounds later... i know you can bearly see it in the pic but the casings this the area behind the ejection port.. i'm told that's ok? because it helps to deflect casings away from you?

i used both lmt bcg and spikes bcg.. i love them both.. my lmt with be my spare.. as my spikes will be my "beater" bcg....
spikes enhanced trigger parts kit... it felt like it was kinda stiff.. i don't know if it's because it's still new.. but i kinda like it... reminds me of my 1911 kimber...

so what you guys think? petty good for my first time shooting an ar and first build?

Nice carbine

I Have both  ML2 & 551F

The only thing I can say bad about the EOTECH is Battery Drain problems and will shut off every 4 or 8hrs

I bought my ML2 aimpoint in 2001
And its been Great. Battery life is outstanding

Look for a Aimpoint XD or M2/ ML2
They should be alot cheaper than the M3/ML3 M4 T1 H1 etc!

never mind
