is there a reference guide to what mfg marks belong to who?  my upper has what i guess you would call  a key slot mfg mark on it

It's just a forge mark to denote that Cerro Forge produced the raw forging for the receiver. It doesn't give you an indication on which manufacturer machined & finished the receiver.
