Went to the range today to do some plinking and the range where I normally go only has 100yd target area. But, today when I got there someone had put up target boards up the hill behind the 100yd boards and walking them off they were at ~200yds and ~250yds. The AR that I took today has a Eotech 516 and it's zeroed at 50yds.

I've never shot this gun over 100 yds so I really wasn't sure what to expect but I thought I would give it a go. I took a few shots at 50 to verify everything was okay. Then a few at 100 yds, hits were a couple of inches high of my aim point. Then to 200 and all the way out to 250. The 200 and 250 aim points seem to be right on, of course the 8" target I was using was covered by the dot but didn't have to hold off target. I was very pleased with the results, suprised in fact. Here's my target from 250yds, 55gr M193 handloads, 15 shots. As you can see 4 missed the paper but from 250yds without magnification I don't think it's too bad, I would guess the misses weren't too far off paper. Fun day at the range

I see a dead target good job with a RDS

my first time at 200 I used a 4x ACOG and it helped a lot

A magnifier is next on my list but I really didn't want to drop the $$$ for the Eotech magnifier but as of now it's the only one that will work with the 516 because of the 7mm built in rise. The guys at Primary Arms are in the process of getting a magnifier mount that will work and the last email I got from them said late November early December, so I've been waiting.

I'd say that was pretty good shooting.

I think that's great shooting when the dot covers up the whole target.  Congrats.

nice shooting  in the real world that would bring heat on a coyotes ass at 200 yds.

May just get that chance. A co-worker's family has a small farm with some cattle and the last couple of time he's cut hay he's seen several coyotes and has mentioned that I need to come down for some target practice.

Ended up getting a inexpensive 3x magnifier off eBay and got a deal on a Larue mount that works with the Eotech 516. Just got it mounted and ready for the range. May still need to play with the position but need it pretty far back to get the eye relief right.

That looks about like my first experience with my Eotech at 200 yards.  Not exactly easy when the target is covered by the dot ;).

As for magnifiers, I bought a Primary Arms 3x with a QR mount for like $95.  No, it's not the same quality as an Eotech or Aimpoint........but it's pretty damn good, and for the price, very hard to pass up.  Makes those long shots a lot easier.

Great shooting for an Eotech at 200 and 250yds.  I'd be happy.

BTW your either great with photoshop or your rifle does not have a S/N.

Just a bit of editing, you can see some of it in the first photo

I can do a bit better with my Trijy reflex but i shoot that dista nce then some regularly. That is very good shooting and more than adequate for what your rig is set up for.
Last weekend my buddy couldnt even get his AK to print at the 200 yard mark on a 12" target. He picked up my A2 carbine and was able to score 16 out of a 20 round mag.

That is good shooting, those 11 are about 2 MOA, not bad at all for a RDS.  Were you holding center on the bull at 250?

Hard to say, the dot covered the target. Tried to hold center paper Maybe I'll get a little better idea with the magnifier next time out.
