Re creating my AR to compete in 3 Gun. What configurations do you guys use. A got a comp;  geting ready to swap my YHM rail for a tube but I want to be able to run open sights on the tube as well. I haev been looking at the YHM tubes. What other options are out there?

Thanks

Older guys keep it simple a Simple round tube like DPMS or JP then you have guys that everything but the kichen sink attached to quad rails.

If I were shooting irons I would go with a 20" barrel and put the front sight as far forward on the barrel as possible. Maybe a clamp on faux FSP  right next to the FH.

RRA has a very cool half railed, half round forearm.  I'm planning on that one.  I hate hanging onto rails, so it will give me someplace to grab, yet still have mounting areas.

JP VTAC tube is a tried and true 3 gun fore end.

Another option and one I like a lot is the TROY TRX Extreme rail.

+1 on the Vtac.

Eta: Where are you shooting 3 gun at?

I have been using my Noveske SPR but have found it is a bit too heavy for the game.  I am planning a build using a lightweight barrel and JP VTAC HG.  If I could find an 18" lightweight midlength I would use that, but I am leaning toward a 16" dd lightweight middy.  The ACOG TA01 I have been using has always been enough optic for 3 gun.

All over.  In GA and AL primarily.  I've been to Steel City a few times in AL too.  Dave Tapp, Randall Webb and Stefan Wiggins put on a great match there.

Noveske will be releasing a 18" SS lightweight profile with intermediate gas system ideal for 3 gun in the coming months.

ETA: here is a pic of the barrel

I use a MI SS 12" tube.

You should be fine with any rifle length free float you choose.

If you're planning to shoot irons, you'd be better off mounting the sights at the end of the barrel.

Is the PRI carbon fiber forend still used by 3 Gunners at all? Is it considered old tech?

I really like mine, but mine is set up for intermediate range varminting (skunks) from a fixed location, as opposed to running and gunning.

Saw one this weekend being used.  Willing to bet the user was the winner of the match.

Lots of guys still use it.  One of the more known is Taran Butler.  His upper is a PRI FF tube and Noveske barrel.
