Looking at trading in one of my ARs for an M1a or an AR10.  Its a BCM 20" upper on a CMMG inc Lower.  Just wondering what I can expect for a trade in value?  Thanks.

It won't have the scope on it or the bipod.

With the stock and mags, I would say you would be getting a trade in value (depending on the shop) for around $800.  If you sold it yourself on AR15.com or Gunbroker, you would probably get $900-950.

This is assuming the stock, mags, and bolt carrier group are all included.  As well as the charging handle.

Trade in at a shop for a no-name* AR?  $500.
Sell it on the EE, and you'll get maybe $800-$900.

*Despite the quality and name recognition on Arfcom of BCM and CMMG, both are relatively unknown brands in the real world, IME.  You'd get more if it was a Bushmaster or a DPMS.

Never trade a firearm to a gunshop..............ever! They have to make money off each and every transaction. Post it for sale at your local gun clubs, on Gunbroker or in the local trade magazines first. You'll get much more money in return going that route.

With cash in hand go shopping thereafter.

+1 exactly what I was thinking

In addition, as the previous poster said, DO NOT trade it in at your local shop, sell it yourself here on the EE and thank us later for the extra couple hundred bucks!

$900-$1000 for that rifle would be my ballpark ball park and $800 would be the least I'd entertain before separating parts to sell or rebuild. Nice rifle BTW!

There is absolutely no way that the OP would ever get close to $1000 out of that rifle unless he were to part EVERYTHING out... even then he wouldn't be able to hit $1000.

The configuration is not something that anyone wants, maybe on arfcom it gets the approval, but in real life people just want an AR that looks like every other AR from Colt, DPMS, or Bushmaster. Especially today that no one is buying AR's like they were last year...

GOOD LUCK WITH THE SALE/TRADE OP.

I have to agree with maleante probably closer to 650~700 on the EE if your lucky.

Their are good buys in the ee right now that aren't selling real fast.

You'd probably have better luck parting it out and just keeping the lower and lpk.  You'll probably want another eventually anyway and all you'd need is an upper and a stock.

i think reasonably you should be able to get 8-900.

id buy it for 650 though if thats the price you end up going with.

Exactly, I do however think it has the chance of going a different way and the dealer thinking he can sell it as a "custom, one of a kind" built gun that can fetch a lot from the right person.

But most likely, what the above poster said.

I say keep the lower, sell the rest.
