Just completed a upper built with 16" BCM LW midlength. Which buffer would yould be the best. a ST-2 or a standard carbine buffer. I shot several rounds of M193 ball and it functioned perfectly with both. Thanks for the input in advance

If you really feel the need to change buffers Id get the spikes or the palmetto state armory h3.

Paul from BCM has advised previously that the H buffer is the ideal buffer for the BCM midlength carbines.  I have a H2 currently in mine, it works well, but I am going to put an H in based on his recommendation.

What are the recommended buffer weights for 16" middy", 14.5" middy, and 10.5" carbine?

BCM reccommends H-buffer, but they also reccommend shooting military grade ammo.  I built mine (BCM 14.5" middy) with a standard carbine buffer, expecting to shoot some lower grade ammo for training purposes only.  So far, it has shot everything I put through it w/o a problem.

H1, H1 or std. carbine, and H3 respectively.

I run an H buffer in my bcm middy.  While shooting 5.56, empty casings land at 2 o'clock about 5-6 feet out.   From what I understand, this is perfect.

I could be wrong about the ejection pattern though, and hopefully someone will be along to verify, or correct me.

H3 for the 10.5"?  Probably why my new 10.5" LMT pistol kept failing to chamber a second round when I had it out this weekend.  Sounds like I need a heavier buffer.

i run a H2 in my carbine and a H in my middy... no issues. YMMV.
