New to the site, first post.  I have been lurking for a while and now have a question.
I just received my new (1st) AR - the Spikes midlength.

I ordered a Magpul Midlength MOE Kit
http://dsgarms.com/ProductInfo/MGMIDMOEBLK.aspx

My question is that the kit comes with a buffer tube, spring, buffer as well as the grip, forearm and stock.  Would there be any issues with replacing the Spikes buffer tube, spring, buffer with the Magpul?

SteveB

Pictures to follow after the magpul installation.

Does the spikes have a milspec buffer tube?

If so just take the existing stock off and put the Moe on the existing tube... you probably have the spikes T2 buffer so I would just leave that be.

You could, but it would be pointless.  The receiver extension, buffer, buffer spring, end plate, and nut are not Magpul parts.  The existing Spikes parts are fine.

I would check and see which buffer tube the stock fits tighter on. If it's the one from DSG, you'll then have to decide for yourself if it's worth it to disassemble the lower to get the DSG buffer tube on there.

At one point I had two MOE stocks and two different buffer tubes (one from BCM and one from DSG). Both of the MOE stocks had no wiggle at all on the BCM buffer tube. They both had just a little bit of wiggle on the DSG buffer tube.

Don't waste your time. The spikes buffer tube is mil spec size and is staked twice to keep it in place. Its good to go.
