This weapon was featured in the book Black Rifle 2, by Collector Grade Publications. The major item was the new
version of the four way selector option, although IIRC, the pictured weapon in the book was a flat-top model too. It's my understanding, after talking with Dennis Todd, a Pa. CLass 3 dealer who often shows off his Enhanced M4 Colt at shows....that the weapon is actually one of twelve or so marked in this fashion. If so, you have a rare piece in your Dept. |

Thanks for the info. That is pretty cool. Too bad the officer that had if before me sratched the hell out of it. I have put a lot of rounds through it and it has been great. Very reliable and I definately trust my life on it. I doubt the scratches hurt its function so what does it matter? |

Quoted: This is my patrol rifle, been carrying it for 6 years. It is a Colt M4 Enhanced. Other than the optic and mount, this is how it was issued to me. It is the only one my department has. The other patrol rifles are Stags and DPMS. It has a 14.5 in barrel, A2 upper, and 4 position selector(safe, semi, burst, and full). Anyone know what makes it "Enhanced"? I also took a pic of the fire control group. It has a wide tigger with 2 disconnectors. The hammer has a burst cam on the right side. The selector is different to. I've never seen another one in this configuration. Sorry for the crappy pics. Enjoy some Colt FA goodness. http://i959.photobucket.com/albums/ae74/blackhawk67601/camo%20pics/gear/gear1/100_1516.jpg http://i959.photobucket.com/albums/ae74/blackhawk67601/camo%20pics/gear/gear1/100_1515.jpg http://i959.photobucket.com/albums/ae74/blackhawk67601/camo%20pics/gear/gear1/100_1517.jpg What sucks is that this rifle will never make it to civilian hands. Which means a very rare collectible firearm will more then likely be destroyed once the department wants to get rid of it. The M4 Enhanced Rifles are rare as hen's teeth. Very cool and let your agency know that they have a real gem. Treat it nicely and she'll treat you nicely. Thanks for the pics. |

To answer a few questions:
It has a standard M4 barrel. The upper is Colt and I beileve original with the lower. You can go from Safe to Auto without going all the way around. Yes, the selector looks like a Rock River star selector but it is a 4 position so I believe it is original as well. Yes, I know that the scratches don't affect function, but it looks like shit and I wish the previous officer would have taken better care of it. I have put several thousand rounds through it with only a few issues. Had one stuck case(wolf) and had a couple case head seperations(remanufactured ammo). I also had a blown primer end up inside the gas carrier key once. No idea how it got in there, not sure how it fit, but the gun was a single shot and when I stripped it, I found the blown primer inside the gas carrier key. That was also an ammo issue. The gun itself has never failed. Glad you all got so much enjoyment out of if. You'd all be welcome to shoot it if it was possible. Hagdaddy |

Nice rig OP-I haven't seen one in years The "star" selector is indeed OEM Colt. Here's a close-up of the four position fire control parts: http://home.comcast.net/~cjan99999/4pos.jpg Colt's selector isn't a copy of RRA's-if memory serves it's actually the other way around. The selector's axle is slotted so the operator can go directly from SAFE to AUTO, without having to go all the way "round the clock"...pretty slick Nice, that is a much better pic. Thanks for adding that. Hagdaddy |
