I had the pleasure of introducing a friend to my favorite sport!
A coworker and good friend just received a 9mm from his wife as an aniversary gift this week. He called me and asked me, "When are going to teach me how to shoot"?  So we went out to the range today. He had never fired a weapon before. My first step was to teach all of the safety rules and the fundementals of handling firearms. Having never shot before I brought along my 1911, my 357sig and two ARs.
After going over everything a couple of times I showed him how to load, apply safety, keep finger out of the trigger guard and then proceeded to watch him unload a mag into a target at 15 yards. To my suprise the guy is a natural shot. All 15 rounds at slow fire in the black. He turned to me with an ear to ear grin and asked, "How'd I do"?  "Pretty Damn good for a rookie"! I responded. Since I was there to teach I let him do most of the shooting. After the pistol shooting he wants a 1911. He was shooting it better the I was until I got warmed up. A little rusty on my part.
We then pulled out the Black rifles. I went over the functioning of the weapons and I let him shoot my old Colt sporter with M4 A2 upper(my KISS gun). The guy was like a kid in a candy store!  Shooting pretty good for a first time. His only complaint was Damn the thing is loud!  Then came the bad part. My trigger pin walked and locked the Colt up for the trip. The range guy wanted to fix it for me but no one works on my guns especially when I know what to do. My buddy thought he did it and started getting bummed and apoligizing. I told him to shut up and shoot as I handed him my CMMG Carbine with Eotech. Now the guy acted as if he had just popped his first nut!  He made solid hits out to 75 yards the rest of the time on the range.
As we were leaving I was asked "what's it take for me to have one of those"?  We talked and I'm going to put one together for him next month.        So there you go! Another shooter hooked. I did my good deed for the day. Now its time to tear down the rear extension so I can seperate the colt and install new trigger pins.
I love teaching my favorite sport to people!

Thanks guys. I try to pass it on to as many as possible.
He took to it quick. It was pretty cool to watch his facial expressions and the grin when asking if he could shoot another mag.

I was able to push the worn trigger pin back in by relieving the pressure on it by pulling the CH back slightly then pushing the pin into place.
