My question is does anyone run a LaRue instead of the A.R.M.S #22 Medium Ring scope mount? After all I've heard about A.R.M.S. mounts getting loose, being out of sspec, not retaining zero, I would prefer to get a LaRue mount, despite it not being exactly what real Mod 0's have. If you do run one, is it too high for a proper cheek weld on an A2 stock? Thanks.
(Yes, before anyone asks, I've already read the epic thread about 10 times and know what a Mk 12 is and what is "spec") |

Are you talking about the LaRue SPR mount or LaRue rings? The Mod 0 has a continuous upper rail, so the SPR mount is pointless. I would go with the LaRue LT-123 rings if you must have QD. The Mod 0 uses medium ARMS rings which are 1.15", so you will need something close to that. The LaRue LT-158 is 1.44", which will clear the rear sight but it will be even .29" taller than the standard set up. The LaRue LT-123s are 1.28" tall, which will clear the rear sight and only be a little taller than the standard set up.

One of its selling points is its ability to be repeatedly taken on and off, yet still retain zero. So, no, it is not pointless. |

Why not use the LT-123 rings? Dustin |

The only difference between those and other LaRue mounts are that they do not lock closed (not enough room for the locking mechanism). You don’t see them on ARs much because they are shorter than standard mounts (1.28” as opposed to ~1.5”) and most people need the cantilever for proper eye relief. You do see them on bolt actions and M14 type rifles sometimes and I’ve never heard anything bad about them. Dustin |
