I just bought a Colt 6520. The barrel is stamped 556 and the lower has 223 on it.. Can I shoot 556?

Yes, the lower has no bearing on the chambering of the weapon. Your barrel and chamber are what determine if you can shoot 5.56, and those are in the upper marked 5.56 NATO so you are good to shoot 223 or 556, have fun.
