I think good machining in a gas block is important so you get a tight lockup and a good seal. You don't want that thing budging at all. Last week I read where someone cranked on a correctly installed clamp type gas block and the upper receiver broke before the gas block moved. From what I can tell a good clamp gas block is the next best thing to a pinned FSB. Posted Via AR15.Com Mobile |
| I have two of the YHM low profile gas blocks, and one of the Brownell's. The Brownell's version looks identical to the YHM, except it uses 3 set screws instead of two. I have the utmost confidence in all three, as the fit on each is very tight, and all are well protected by free float rails. Not sure if this helps your question, but they were $25 each (and I haven't seen any reason to pay more for a different style). |
