I looked at the blue prints for an AR-15 lowers (http://www.ar15.com/content/manuals/lowerBlueprint.pdf) and in the top left drawing you see the hole for the bolt catch spring is a diameter of .156" +/-.003"...but what I want to know, is how deep that spring hole is supposed to be. Mine measures .635". Is that correct?

According to the print the diminsion is .648 +/- .015

Where do you see that dimension? I am not seeing that. Are you looking a different set of plans?

Looking at 'Section C-C', the dimension you are asking about is 0.868 - 0.220 = 0.648".  Per the note in the title block the tolerance is +/- 0.015"
