| How does free floating an AR provide better accuracy vs standard drop in handguards? Maybe I'm missing something! |
|
It removes 100% of all outside pressures against the barrel. This allows the barrel to vibrate the same way every time you shoot it.
Prior to float tubes the sling was attched to the barrel at the front sight base. Using tight tension when locked down and slung up in prone to get a good zero. Use virtually no tension when firing while standing and you'll get a different point of impact. Float tubes eliminate these outside pressures so your zero's remain zeroed. It also helps when you have heavy things like bipods hanging of the end. For a fighting rifle meant for close combat inside 100 yards it doesn't really matter. For getting the best accuracy out of a rifle for precision shooting it does. |
