I'm building a 20" HBAR rifle and I have the choice to have a threaded muzzle or just a regular crowned muzzle.

My primary concern with this rifle is accuracy out to 500 yards. However, I also have a .223 suppressor and I wouldn't mind being able to use it on this rifle.

I have threaded HBAR barrels on other rifles, and you aren't left with a ton of barrel thickness when they are turned for 1/2x28 threads. So I am wondering if thinning the barrel at the muzzle would decrease the accuracy potential.

Does anyone have any experience with this?

And the muzzle device is not over torqued.

different animal, but I threaded the bull barrel on my .17hmr, the cut off piece was used for a thread protector while the silencer is not mounted. There was no change in accuracy at all....only time groups have opened was when the silencer wasnt snug and groups opened up until I reached up and tightened the silencer down (no baffle strikes luckily!)

thread with confidence.....make sure you have a reputable place do the work.

The crown is still there. So long as care is taken not to damage the crown while threading there should not be an issue.

And the barrel is properly stress relieved.
